I didn't come on here and speak my doubts about Luke at LT, but i had alot of them.  He has started to grow this season and i have to admit i feel i was wrong.  I know others have different opinions, but i think Caldwell might have something special thats being overlooked.

Given how the top of that draft has been

 

Joeckel might actually be one of the better players in that early class which is sad to say lmao

pretty much nobody said there's no chance he doesn't develop.  People were saying his time is NOW to play better and if he didn't he'd be a bust.  Simple as that.

I have been really critical of Luke, and though he still hasn't lived up to his draft position, I will admit he has played pretty well this year in pass protection and I have been pleasantly surprised.

2. If you actually watch the whole play and not just one side you'll see Bortles was already sacked. Might the guy have pressured Bortles? Maybe but it was over by then.

 

3. That is not on Joeckel. Nice play design by Tampa. Not sure what Joeckel is supposed to do when they just fooled the protection.

You don't have clue.

 

Obviously I don't know their plays but I can do my best to guess what is supposed to happen.

1. Harbor is supposed to have a down block on the DE so Joeckel is able to pull around.

2. Probably would have been a pressure but Bortles is already sacked by the time the DB gets to him.

3. Good play by the dlineman running the cross stunt. Wasn't the best hand off to Beadles but Joeckel blocks the DT who he's responsible for after the stunt. If Beadles has any kind of anchor he doesn't get blown up that bad.

As others said the play with the fumble, harbor was supposed to be on the end and Joeckel was supposed to get to second level to block. So it wasn't his fault. 1.) Its actually a down-block by harbor. Which was missed yeah, but thats something Joke needs to diagnose. The dude is right in front of him and he just moves out of the way. If youve ever played OT you're always coached to handle free rushers even if it blows up the design.

 

2.) The fact Bortles was sacked is superfluous. Its still a pressure if our other side didnt drop the ball.

 

3.) Its a simple twist stunt. Beadles actually played the initial man well but was thrown the second guy by Joke. No chance to make that play.

So was he suppose to wait and make sure clay blocked the rusher. The only thing he could've done was grab the rusher while he was pulling.

I dont see how. I'm not debating that Harbor missed his assignment but yeah Joeckel has to recognize that and at least attempt to put a body on him. Free rushers like that can kill a season. Its the same thing as holding when you get totally beat.

 

Maybe its not the worst thing in the world but you look in the thread and you see people calling his play great. This is not great.

Only the idiots can't see Caldwell is doing a good job. He's getting draft picks for scrubs (I like Scobee but you get a 6th rounder for a kicker who is released after 3 games... that's amazing) and he's making good picks himself. Sure not all his guys are panning out but no GM is going to hit on every signing/pick, Beadles sucks and Gerhart looks bad too but he's much more hit than miss.
