Quote:I never understand the "this team would be 4-1 or 3-2, if the Jags didnt have mistakes or injuries"...lol...what-ifs are nice if you aren't being balanced with them...no team is devoid of mistakes or injuries.People forget that Luke Kuechkley (or however his name is spelled) and Kelvin Benjamin were missing when we played them, and that Tedd Ginn Jr dropped a wide open TD... Dont bring that up anymore though, these apologist's head's might explode. Quote:No, I agree. If we go 7-9, depending on how the clots do, we may just make the playoffs. That is all I want! Yeah Gus might not be the best coach or even a good one but if we end up 7-9 at this point I will believe that he is doing something right. I think one thing you can say about Gus is that the players play hard for him. I really think his attitude is good for the youth of this team in this day and age. He might not be a good coach behind the scenes with preparing them with all the knowledge needed for game day but it's kinda hard to know exactly about that stuff. All we see if players making a ton of mistake and who knows if that's on him not teaching or them not learning quickly. It's probably a combination of both, while most people want to put it all on Gus. That being said I believe similarly to you that if we end the year with a good record I'll be okay with him staying but if it continues down this road hopefully we can find a good replacement that won't be another first time head coach.
Quote:Here's the ultimate fear...Very scary indeed. Next year could have been the year we actually compete for a playoff spot. Quote:People forget that Luke Kuechkley (or however his name is spelled) and Kelvin Benjamin were missing when we played them, and that Tedd Ginn Jr dropped a wide open TD... or that the refs overturned a Olsen td with a very ticky tacky penalty call. Quote:Very scary indeed. THIS YEAR.... THIS YEAR is the year we could actually compete for a playoff spot! This is what drives me nuts about our fan base. We are there. We are complete. This team has talent. WE should be leading this god aweful division. We have the talent and the breaks fell our way. And we still crapped the bed. That's why, no matter how positive I try to stay regarding our HC, I cannot give in to the fact that it's the HC that is the problem. WE should be leading this division right freakin' now. It's not even a question to me anymore. We're that talented. Anyone that tries to tell me we don't have the talent to be leading the AFCS at this moment is not really watching all the games and all the plays. This division is trash. And we have the best talent. Our coach never realized he had to switch from progress to winning. Quote:THIS YEAR.... THIS YEAR is the year we could actually compete for a playoff spot! You're being impatient Anchorman. Everyone knows it takes 15 years to get a .500 record. Seriously though, I was driving yesterday and caught myself thinking " Well next year when we have a real coach"... then had a similar reaction that you had with this post. How long can the Jaguar fan-base keep saying " Well next year...."? Its ridiculous. Instead of fixing the problem, or at least TRYING to fix the problem, alot of people just want to burn another season in false hopes that the god awful production will some how turn around. Its a joke. Its like its week 6, not even mid season, and people are already saying " Well if we dont get anymore wins Gus Bradley will be fired". God forbid we try to be productive and find a solution to the problem. Admittedly, I did the same thing with Blaine Gabbert. I kept telling my self " just wait a couple of years". I waited those years, and just ended up back at square one. Fool me once. Never again. Especially when coaches/ players are coming into the league more ready for the pros/ head coaching positions than in previous eras. You get 2 years. If you are still GOD AWFUL, then you're gone. 8-29 over 3 seasons is GOD AWFUL. That is unless you work for the Jacksonville Jaguars of course...smdh Quote:The most annoying part about the Jaguars during Bradley's tenure is that the players obviously have progressed. But I dont feel like he has progressed one bit as a Head Coach. Thus hindering the team. Which explains a 1-4 record despite your young players producing this far This is the best point I've found hidden in the rubble. At the same time, the defensive front 7 isn't producing anything that isn't offensive. So while I mostly agree, it would seem the offense hasn't been as hamstrung as the defense. Leads me to point to players and coaching. But... is it possible this defense still doesn't have the players to run it, yet we're sticking with it anyway?
"You do your own thing in your own time. You should be proud."
Quote:This is the best point I've found hidden in the rubble. OK, so the defense is hamstrung by the players we "wish" we had. Well, reality says we don't have the players we "wish" for. So therefore, we have the players we have. Why not figure out a way to make those players successful? This is what good coaches do. They take what they have, and create something that is respectable. We got nothing of the sort this past Sunday. I get it. If you think of coaching as a philosophical discussion, it's easy to say that we don't have the tools. But if you look at coaching in the manner of we need to compete to win, you have to adjust your philosophy to meet the reality of the situation. We don't have an OTTO and a LEO. So freakin' what??? Just get the job done. Find a way to tackle the runners. Find a way to rush the QB. It's not as difficult as you make it out to be. Unless... Unless you say, "X" is the only way. And if you say "X" is the only way, and you cannot adapt, you are not a coach. You are a bureaucrat that fails because you cannot adapt to reality. We show less advertisements to registered users. Remember when Mel Tucker was in control of the defense and they had so many injuries guys like Don Carey were starting at CB? Somehow they managed to at least do decent. Unlike this year they're making every QB look like Brady with way more talent on the defense.
