Year 3 for a QB is usually the year they kind of really start putting it all together. This offense might end up really, really good. Expect Dave to totally re-design this slugish defense next year.

Robinson and Hurns are certainly making a case for being one of the better duos in the league. From what we've seen, they are still scratching the surface and developing their craft, and arguably they are limited by Bortles current play. So when Bortles becomes more accurate, which hopefully will come with time, then these two guys are going to be a pair to be reckoned with. They are on pace to be thousand yard receivers with an inaccurate Blake Bortles, imagine how good and dangerous they would be with an accurate Blake Bortles. It is potentially scary!

 

Our receivers are pretty damn talented. We have Julius Thomas who can hopefully bring some, if not all, of the big play ability he had in Denver. And other players who are capable pass catchers as well in D-Rob, Yeldon, and so on. Credit is certainly due Dave Caldwell for putting together this set of weapons for our young quarterback, and fingers crossed, Bortles is going to help make them thrive. 


It makes you wonder what kind of impact a healthy and focused Justin Blackmon could have on this team if he returns. Granted that is still a long shot and we may never see him in the NFL again, but imagine a trio of Robinson, Hurns and Blackmon lining up. That would be a hell of a trio. And with Yeldon and Thomas, our young quarterback would be spoilt for choice. Then again, if Lee can ever get healthy and utilise his potential, then a trio of Robinson, Hurns and Lee would be troublesome as well. 

 

Our future offensively looks very bright if all goes well.

Every time i think about how awesome our wrs are he pops into my head. I hate it! We would have the best young wr group in the NFL. Hell you could make an argument for that right now! Imagine if Blackmon wasn't a dope head!

The thing is, you can't really evaluate based on a WR tandem.  Look at it this way.  What are the statistics against say NE or SD?  I bring those two teams up because their quarterbacks tend to spread the ball around rather than target their starting WR tandem.

 

Some people say that statistics don't lie.  I say that you can make statistics say whatever you want and this is a good example of that.

Yes and no. It depends on the team and other pieces. I think if you are tops in the league tandem wise then it is safe so you have a pretty good 1 and 2. Of course, it is still early and plenty of time for them to regress or keep making progress.

Here's the thing, every offense would prefer to have 2 WRs that are legit threats, it opens up the underneath stuff and get's the middle of the field soft.

 

Looking at NE is an anamoly.  Brady is the greatest check down passer the world has ever seen.  

 

SD doesn't make your case, Rivers prefers going to WRs.  He even made Eddie Royal look legit for a season.  Yes, Rivers used Gates alot, but I'd consider gates more of a beast slot WR than a TE...  But I guess we can pick nits on that one.  The bottom line is that Rivers hasn't been the same since he's lost that one legit dude that went to Tampa bay...  I think he was a WR...  

 

 

Either way, we have a great WR squad.  I was saying this a few weeks ago when people were lamenting the fact we didn't bring a vet WR...  Why?  Why bring a vet in when you have talent in abundance right here.  Caldwell did another great job keeping things stable in this situation.

 

Walters flashed so brilliantly in the preseason, I'm glad he's gotten his chance.  I think he's better than Greene, in all honesty.  The dude doesn't drop balls.  Greene is all thumbs...

Of course they can regress...  If the HC begins to want to play completely conservative and ignore the WRs and passing game, they will regress.  But is Bradley that stupid?  

 

I would hope Bradley is smart enough to be telling his OC and offensive coaching staff to keep doing exactly what they are doing.  I would hope Bradley is telling his offensive coaches they need to get more aggressive and work on Red Zone TDs.

 

I would hope Bradley is saying, you guys got the Offense, I'm gonna take care of the D...

Naw, dude.  You're pretty much right.  Anyone that has watched this team and Bradley and knows the arc of #becausejaguars knows that there is a very huge possibility that Bradley completely ruins the momentum we have gained.

 

I'm just trying to be optimistic.  Bradley is head coaching through fear...  He's scared of the other shoe falling and all heck breaking lose.  Maybe he's realized that he can't coach with his foot pumping the break...  Maybe he'll realize that he has to go all out...  

 

I hope he realizes this before he gets himself fired.  Otherwise, it will be a typical Jaguar season, just like we all fear.
