Odrick

I can't help but think that he'd look better if he had any--seriously guys, any help from the rest of the line. Getting Marks back will be big.

I do believe getting marks back will help him. He has done fine at stopping the run other than this past week. I do think he is getting laid a bit much but then again I always feel that way

To the people saying his role is a run-stopper not a pass-rusher... maybe in base defense. But he's playing inside on passing downs. He's meant to be Michael Bennett, not Red Bryant. It's pretty clear just from his contract that he's expected to be rushing the passer and he hasn't done that well enough so far.
That being said it's only been five games, and it's been five games without theoretically our two top pass-rushers (Marks and Fowler) so he's got plenty of time to get better. And if all he turns out to be is a run-stuffing end for a couple of years then whatever, we literally have too much cap space as it is. The team is better with him than without him. Quote:i think most of you don't understand the position he plays Pretty much this. OP, please fast forward to the 7 minute mark: http://www.jaguars.com/media-gallery/videos/Bradley-Build-on-our-strengths/ecfd2e7c-df92-4b83-b411-3de5572c23e0

The defensive line will get better with Marks. Miller has been a force to reckon with. Jones has played well too.
I'm not ready to write off Odrick yet. Though I am surprised how Skuta has played better, albeit at a positon that is flashier. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

I survived the Gus Bradley Error.
Quote:I do believe getting marks back will help him. He has done fine at stopping the run other than this past week. I do think he is getting laid a bit much but then again I always feel that way Well, he is a football player who just signed a big contract. Why shouldn't he have a good time?
I survived the Gus Bradley Error.
We didn't sign odrick to be a pass rusher I don't understand why you guys are expecting him to be one.

Quote:We didn't sign odrick to be a pass rusher I don't understand why you guys are expecting him to be one. Are you arguing that he signed a $42m contract to be a 2-down run stuffer? Are you aware of Michael Bennett and the role he plays in Seattle? Because Odrick was signed to do the same thing. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:We didn't sign Odrick to be a pass rusher. I don't understand why you guys are expecting him to be one. Nonsense. What this team needs obviously is pass rushers. What did Miami use him for, a designated run stuffer? Role players like that don't get paid $42 million and get the starting job.
Quote:i think most of you don't understand the position he plays That is true. I have gone back and watched some of the plays on defense, and Odrick is doing his job. It's usually the guy next to him that is out of position.
Quote:Of course not. We are kindergartners. There are a lot of things we don't understand. No, we're fans. We cast about for people to blame, and often settle on the wrong guy.
Quote:No, we're fans. We cast about for people to blame, and often settle on the wrong guy. That is being like kindergartners, of course - not knowing what we are looking at. This happens to me when flags are thrown before the snap: I always see the defense move first and call it offsides instead of false start. Casting people to blame is something fans want to do. They think it is their job to criticize every coach's decision that was not properly executed. I am not giving up on our whole defensive line improving with Marks on the field. Quote:Nonsense. What this team needs obviously is pass rushers. What did Miami use him for, a designated run stuffer? Role players like that don't get paid $42 million and get the starting job. What this team currently needs and what Odrick's job is do not have to be one in the same....
IT WAS ALWAYS THE JAGS

Role players like that don't get paid $42 million and get the starting job.so if that's the case why is he barely rushing the passer? he is just not a great pass rusher and never has been, and he has no help in that are on this line so it's even harder for him.
But that same man can get lost in the sauce." Quote:But in Madden he gets me plenty of sacks... Lol he really does. POWER MOVES ALL DAY.
Well he sucked his first couple of years with Miami.

Quote:We didn't sign odrick to be a pass rusher I don't understand why you guys are expecting him to be one.Wrong, that's exactly what he was signed for - to provide more of a pass-rush from the strong side. He's even expected to play inside on 3rd downs and pass rush from there.
Odrick is a moderate upgrade at an unsexy position. Nothing more, nothing less. He does a solid job 90% of the time, flashes 5% and gets beat 5%.
