Free Agency - Who to keep? Who to Sign?
|
My No. 1 Free Agent target:
Trumaine Johnson - CB - Rams - 6'2" 208 Lbs Through 5 Games: 23 TT - 2 Ints - 8 PD compare these stats to: Davon House: 12 TT - 7 PD Aaron Colvin - 21 TT - 2 Sacks Its the Passes Defended of House with the turnover of INTS. BIG CB for Gus' defense We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
I remain HIGH on
Nigel Bradham - LB - Bills Through 5 games: 31 TT - 1 Sack 1 PD compare to POZ: 39 TT - 1 Int 3 PD Skuta: 18 TT - 1 Sack 1 PD
Another Free Agent I like is
Cordy Glenn - OLT - Bills - 6'6" 345 Lbs Noted for his pass blocking I think he can be had for a 5 Yr - 37.5 Mil or 7.5 Mil contract which is roughly equal to what Eugene Monroe is getting from the Ravens. I would then move Joeckel inside to OLG and essentially play with three OTs. In case of injury, Joeckel is the swing backup OT on either side of the line. A.J. Cann would be the backup OG on either side of the line. Then I would trade Zane Beadles for a Rd 5 selection. NOW comes the interesting part. A player I really like is Michael Floyd - WR - Cardinals - 6'2" 220 Lbs 2015 - 5 gms - 8 Rec - starting out slow because of his hand injury (3 dislocated fingers in preseason) 2014 - 16 gms - 47 Rec 2013 - 16 gms - 65 Rec 2012 - 16 gms - 45 Rec. The Cardinals picked up his 5th Year Contract but it will cost the team $7.320 Mil which is the 7th highest contract on the team. I am wondering if the Cardinals might entertain a trade of Floyd to basically dump his contract. The trade I am suggesting is the Jags Rd 5 draft choice which should be in the Top 10 of the 5th Rd. The Jags would be getting a later Rd 5 selection from the trade of Zane Beadles. Then Floyd would come in as the primary backup to Allen Robinson but he could also be a huge target in the middle of the field as a slot WR. Assuming that Justin Blackmon does not come back (which is still possible) then I think the Jags need another WR to put into the rotation and I like the idea of test driving Michael Floyd for a year and if he blends in with the team sign him long term.
Quote:My No. 1 Free Agent target:To be fair. he is playing behind the best dline in the NFL. If our corners was playing behind the Rams dline and LBs they would look much better also with the errant throws the qbs make going against the Rams
Through 4 Games
Olivier Vernon - DE - Dolphins - 6'2" 275 Lbs (26 in 2016) Has a total of 4 Total Tackles with NO SACK or TFL His resume: 2012: 32 TT - 3.5 Sacks 2013: 57 TT - 11.5 Sacks 2014: 47 TT - 6.5 Sacks With the way the Dolphins are playing his contract year could end up being a DUD IF, the Dolphins choose NOT to re-sign Vernon and there are currently NO TALKS underway SHOULD the Jags attempt to SIGN this guy to a 1 Year PROVE IT DEAL? Jared Odrick could be a big salesman in such a deal to move from Miami to Jacksonville, Vernon and Fowler would rotate as the Leo DE. Your thoughts? We show less advertisements to registered users. I would say yes to a 1 year "prove it deal".
Fowler will need better help than Clemens and Branch I would also like to see the Jags add a pass rushing LE moving Odrick inside. Fowler and Marks will definitely improve the pass rush but in today's pass happy NFL the Jags will need more IMO
Quote:Only players I'd keep from that list is Davis and Jones, but really, none of those players are unreplaceable.Exactly this. Verbatim of what I was going to say. I'll add this: attempt to sign Alex Mack and fall back to Wiz if it doesn't work. Also, cutting Beadles saves $5.5 million per year and there would be no dead money. Linder and Cann with Bowanko off the bench. I would have loved Marshall Yanda, but he just agreed to an extension today. Still need to find an upgrade over Cann unless he develops into something by the end of this season. We also need to draft or sign a left tackle to replace Joeckel. I don't think the possible available free agent tackles are a long-term answer at the position, but they could be an upgrade to Luke. Cordy Glenn and Russell Okung are the only clear candidates really.
1. Danny Trevathan-ILB-Broncos, tackling machine that could play next to Smith and if we were to draft Jayson Smith my that would be a crazy LB group.
2. Jaye Howard-DT-Chiefs,the guy has been really good for the Chiefs this year and wouldn't command that much money. Replace Roy with the howard/abry jones combo 3. Mohammed Sanu-WR-Bengals, will the Bengals resign Sanu or jones? I would prefer Sanu because he is more reliable and is a bigger wr which would let hurns play the slot. 4. Cordy Glenn-LT-Buffalo, we need a left tackle because then we are one piece away from having a good starting 5 OL and beadles/joeckel/Cann could battle for that spot. Thoughts? I think it's a pretty realistic 4. Really curious what yall think of trevathan and Howard
I love the trio of: Trevathan, Howard and Glenn
Danny Trevathan - ILB - Broncos I think he could probably play Otto LB for a year and allow the Jags to keep Poz for one more year. He is young and ascending. I still want Poz for depth even if Trevathan starts. Jaye Howard - NT - Chiefs I see no reason why not keep Roy Miller and let these two rotate - Howard is an upgrade to Abry Jones, although I would not mind keeping Jones over Ziggy Hood. Cordy Glenn - OLT - Bills I would sign him and then trade Zane Beadles for a Rd 5 or Rd 6 selection As far as Mohammed Sanu, his hands have always been questionable and FA WRs tend to be expensive. I don't think Sanu is an upgrade to Hurns, and you don't pay 7+ Mil for a backup WR, so I say PASS on him I still like Trumaine Johnson - CB - Rams to team with House and Colvin as the outside starter opposite House with Colvin as the nickel CB. McCray and Gratz and Marshall would provide great depth. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Clearly the Jags will be able to clear some cap space when they unload Clemons, Beadles, Lewis and Hood.
This team needs to spend in Free Agency because this team lacks sufficient talent to consistently win. |
