Should The Jaguars Be Actively Shopping Shorts Right Now, Like Cleveland Is Allegedly Doing With Josh Gordon?

Quote:a franchise QB does fixes the offense pirk....which in turn helps with the defense since they won't be on the field as much, and playing with the lead more makes things easier for the defense.

It's going to take more than simply a franchise QB, no matter who it is, to fix this team.

Quote:Cecil is average in everything that he does. Average hands, speed, and route running with below average strength. Cecil isn't even a top 40 wr but ppl are acting like he's aj green. If somebody is offering us a 3rd or 4th for him, I say take it and run and see what Caldwell can do with it.

I think some of whats going on is people on here are reacting (overreacting) to the most recent stat line he put up in mostly garbage time vs Seattle...

I agree with a lot of your quote except the asking price. Cecil has probably outplayed 3rd round value. The Jags could get more than that due to his relatively young age.

To a team like Detroit who is desperate for WR, they just might do it.

You do understand that's how signatures, work, right?

Quote:LOL. Yes his instability!!!    You think Shorts being a concussion casualty is more likely than Blackmon doing something stupid again. I don't.  Whatever. Two people - two opinions. Get over it.

Thanks for the concussion breakdown though - I was really unclear on that since it hasn't been an issue for this team or the entire league at all over the past 3 years.  Was there a lawsuit or something?  Or like seventeen specials on ESPN and NFL network.  Wait.... didn't we have a few threads about concussion research studies that our former LB took part in?  Somehow - after all of that - I didn't know that damage from concussions was progressive.

Your statement is just dumb.

Quote:Other than keeping Blackmon, draft Bridgewater - and the rest of the WR won't matter. Bridgewater will make them, as opposed to needing CSIII to "make" other game manager level QB.

Would rather have Bridgewater with Blackmon and Shorts.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

More talent > less talent.

Yes, let's shop our talent out to become better.  It makes perfect sense.  I swear, if Cyprien causes one more sack/fumble or disrupts another pass and continues to play brilliant rookie ball, he's gone!  How can we improve this team if we're not trading off great talent?

Makes no sense to do so.  You would get a pick then have to burn it on his replacement, the WR's outside of Shorts and Blackmon aren't very good, so you aren't doing yourself any favors.   Gordon is on the block because of his off the field issues.  Shorts doesn't have that probelm.  Blackmon does, but he isn't going anywhere either.

HUH...........

What.!.!.!.!.!.!.

OK back on topic.

NO. No thanks on shopping CS3.

OP has lost his mind? Before CS3 we had Jimmy and Keenan. Everyone else that has lined up at WR in between said WR's were non existent. As far as CS3 being one concussion away from what happened to Austin collie, well let's just say that, that can be said for any player.

No, because if you get the right QB, you can adequately replace that WR position with a lower round pick than what you trade him for. Great QB make the WR, not vice versa.

How many rings did that duo bring us?....and they were amongst the best duo's of all time....

Obviously having a great WR tandem isn't the be all end all. Its nice to have...but without the great QB, which Brunell was not after 1996, it wasn't enough to put us over the top.

If the Jags get the QB, you will be surprised how easily a guy like Shorts could be replaced. Bridgewater would make Ace Sanders into T Y Hilton...

You're right.  We'll get rid of CSIII and then sign some free agent WR who intercepts the ball with the back of his helmet.

If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?  The technically correct answer is no: for sound to exist there must be a transmitter and a receiver.

If a franchise QB throws a ball down field towards a bunch of talent less players, is the ball caught?

TMD I think you're missing the point which is that this team is bad enough to be picking #1 in May. And we could have Bridgewater AND Blackmon AND Shorts.
