Blake Bortles Qb Ucf

Quote:I want McCarron to fall in the draft. I think he would make a wonderful full time backup to Teddy. He's the type of player who would fill in wonderfully if your starter missed a few games. I agree with this.

I've said him and Hogan are fighting for top 10 next year if they stay in school, and nothing has changed...except maybe Mariota pushes one of them down a little if he stays too.
Borderline 1st/2nd for Bortles this year, top half first round if he stays. Very solid prospect. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Defense almost blew the season. Bortles is clutch. As is JJ Worton. I'd love him as a WR4.
In talks with buddies I have said that I wouldn't be against drafting Bridgewater first, Manziel second and Bortles third.
One's got to work out. Right? It's to the point now where I am half joking, and half serious anymore about it.

Not to get into an argument, but this line of thinking just doesn't make sense to me. Each of those players' development is a completely independent event. What connection would there be between the way that Manziel develops and the way Bortles develops? They are individual people with their own abilities and limitations. This is akin to asking what if Jacksonville drafted you and I to be Quarterback. We drafted two so one of us has to work out, right?!?! Not really. If we're no good, we're no good. Just because we're in the same class together doesn't have a whole lot of -- logical -- connnection.

Quote:I wonder if he's coming out in the draft or waiting.if storm declares he should strongly consider it too, hes a borderline first rounder from what im hearing. Just shows how QB starved I am! About development though. No matter who is drafted now a days, development doesn't seem to matter. Show you can do it in a two year window, maybe three or you are out.

It's not that I've lost my patience per se, but it seems as if a guy is going to be a really good player, it'll show up early on. The Jimmy Smith's of the football world don't seem to happen that often anymore. I wonder if it's because the coaching ability in college and even lower have been upgraded so much in the past few years.

Quote:Bortles will stay. He wants me to be happy.will storm stay? that would suck for bortles if he doesnt.
Quote:will storm stay? that would suck for bortles if he doesnt. I doubt it but William Stanback has looked great. He's not as explosive but he will be a good starter. The ucf offense would be just fine with Stanback. Quote:That part I get!The game has definitely gotten more studied by the younger players. In HS, we have a tool called Hudl now. We can watch all our practices less than 30 minutes after we get off the field. We can watch games almost instantly (not just ours, but others as well). Film is where you can really elevate yourself and team. It's the best teacher. It's one thing for a coach to say "No, you do this, you do that, etc.". It's another to see yourself and what your doing and see why it's wrong and what technique you should of been doing.

And you're right, film based self study is such an effective tool.

They are individual people with their own abilities and limitations. The line of thinking that matters is Gabbert has three more years of NFL experience than any of those would-be rookies. When you draft a quarterback like we drafted Gabbert, you have to be patient. Aaron Rodgers might have looked equally terrible if he had been forced onto the field in the same manner as Gabbert was. At least Gus knew when to get the hook. As long as Gus and Co. feel Blaine is making progress, beit in practice only, he still has much more NFL time logged. If you draft a quarterback high in the next draft all it means is you don't know how to develop an NFL quarterback.

Quote:Aaron Rodgers might have looked equally terrible if he had been forced onto the field in the same manner as Gabbert was. It's much, much, MUCH more likely that those three years on the bench only prevented Rodgers from ever making a run at all of Favre's (soon to be Peyton's) records. |
