I survived the Gus Bradley Error.

There were a couple quips from that article reminding me of Gus...



The wording may be different, but the message is the same and it gets old quick.




This makes me think about how Chris Smith is inactive every week while Andre Branch produces jack squat.

And that was all from one year. He wouldn't last six games here if Gus is shown the door.

If this is true I see only 1 scenario happening. Next year we are all talking about the same thing because nothing will change, and we as fans become even more bitter of the suckage.

Just change the playbook before the game, that's what I do in Madden and my Jags play good...I can't believe Gus hasn't tried this yet. Stupid silly Gus bus.


No seriously though, I'm glad we have a smart owner, I agree. If we are this bad at this point in the season 2 years down the road, pull the plug. I'm excited to watch us own the AFC South for years to come. I'm excited about our jags. We will get there.


My dad was an L.A. Kings fan for 30+ years before they won a Stanley cup just barely...he was still a fan. Always.

Khan can’t help but wonder if his GM had felt a little undue pressure in the 2015 offseason, when the Jags spent $79.1 million in guarantees to sign five notable free agents: tight end Julius Thomas, right tackle Jermey Parnell, defensive lineman Jared Odrick, outside linebacker Dan Skuta and cornerback Davon House.

 

Now Khan is looking back on the 2015 season. With the exception of maybe Parnell, who’d been a backup in Dallas and showed why with his poor mechanics and lack of quickness, all the free agents were fine in their first year with the Jags. Thomas created favorable matchup problems in the passing game; Odrick was a beast, particularly against the run; Skuta proved not quite as proficient in a 4-3 as he’d been in San Francisco’s 3-4, but he played with a motor and had a way of surpassing opponents’ expectations; and House was a deft outside corner who could play zone or man.

 


Not that he's too far off with most of these, but the one free agent he thought would be a bust, that being Jermey Parnell, is actually the one that has truly proven to be an absolute beast on the field. Meanwhile, the one he thought would be a beast, that being Odrick, is well, just okay proving stout against the run as predicted but not quite the pass rusher we thought we were getting.

I was talking about the offense, and how it wouldn't make a difference in Bortles development. You're changing the subject. Whether or not the Jags can start winning games if Gus is fired is debateable. That's the point, let's see if Marrone can make a difference. Based on the last three games and the two previous seasons it couldn't get much worse.


 

If you were masochist enough to keep a recording of the last game, watch the three plays starting with 6:15 left in the 3rd quarter. That's the problem with the way the last three games were coached in a nutshell.


Would Marrone change that? Hopefully. At this point I'd expect that even Jaxon DeVille could run a better defense.

 

I understand your point.  I just want to give it till seasons end and evaluate everyone on the coaching staff.   Let Caldwell dig his own hole by hiring a second HC, if need be, and either we ascend or we don't.   If we feel some staff members are worth keeping, then sell them to the new coach during the hiring process.

OK, so if Khan doesn't fire Bradley after London when we lose then he lacks the leadership that I thought he had and I'll blame him instead of Bradley.

 

At absolute worst case scenario, Bradley has to be gone after this season.

I don't why anybody would have considered Odrick a pass rusher. He doesn't do that and never has.


As a run stopper, is he any good at that? Our run defense has taken a step back.

I am fine with Khan's quote. Gus has gotten this team better from last season to this. Much. Heck, the improvement started the second half of last season. Started out last year getting absolutely obliterated. This year it really has been more competitive. It's still an extremely young roster, youngest in the league. It takes patience.

 

I just hope Khan had a meeting with the two and said something to the effect of, you've got time, but we need to start getting W's asap.
