Quote from Shad Khan on Dave and Gus

Can he play defense?

Quote:I am fine with Khan's quote. Gus has gotten this team better from last season to this. Much. Heck, the improvement started the second half of last season. Started out last year getting absolutely obliterated. This year it really has been more competitive. It's still an extremely young roster, youngest in the league. It takes patience.

I just hope Khan had a meeting with the two and said something to the effect of, you've got time, but we need to start getting W's asap.

You're wrong. Gus is a DEFENSIVE COACH. Our defense has gotten WORSE every year. Gus has nothing to do with Bortles making us a Top 12 passing offense. Olson does.

Quote:Last year we were outscored 185-81 in our first six games.

This year we were outscored 176-113 in our first six games.

We are averaging 5 points more per game and giving up 1.5 points less per game.

You actually said this backwards. We are WORSE than last year and worst defensive opponents PPG in franchise history.

The actions of Mr. Khan w/respect to his interview is exactly the way it should be. While he has an Nine Digit investment in this team, he has to ensure that it's built as it was intended to be. Remember Caldwell stating when he was hired that it'll take several years for the team to truly be competitive? Remember the previous regime's roster that had to be completely revamped? Mr. Khan wants to win NOW but he realizes that starting over as most of the Professional Message Board GMs want to will set this team back another three years or so...

If Mr. Khan was'nt committed to weathering the storm then he should'nt have purchased the team. He knows what he's doing.

I think people were fine with weathering the storm. But there are serious questions about the people driving the ship and if they can get us to blue skies.

Why do you choose to ignore the injuries that has decimated the defense? Even w/injuries we were Sixth in Run D until Poz tweeked his ankle. We really hav'nt gotten burnt in the passing game other that playing the Patriots and the Texan's one reciever that torched Davon House for 150+ yards. The D is still learning each others tendacies...

I'm confused on your position. Are you happy with the current state of the team?

i really love the jaguars but sometimes i question my fandom when ownership doesnt do what it takes to make the team better. ill let this season play out and see what changes happen throughout the course of the year and if things dont get better and THEN shad still gives gus another year..... i might just strictly worry about college ball.

if the owner lets that continue then really you are just a masochist to keep hoping things will get better.

EXACTLY... The people that have serious questions are of What Nature again? Who are they and how do they contribute other than demanding according to their personal fellings/beliefs...

I'm willling to bet that most that are Demandish are Demandish due to Fantasy FB and not Reality FB...

All I want is to be able to have fun going to games again, justifying the expense of season tickets, not looking at mock drafts in September, and not having to explain why I am a Jaguar fan to other people.

Not really asking a lot. I think 8-8 would fix most of that.

Most people after another offseason of high draft choices and splashy FA signings will be fully reinflated with hopium and ready to buy tickets again.

Hell Naw, I'm not happy at all. But I have sense enough to understand that the current regime should'nt be judged by the previous regime's deficiencies. When starting from the ground up, as we've done from the Owner, GM, HC, Coaching Staff, Scouts and not to mention the Training Staff, how long does it take to become competitive? What's the norm other that one or two teams being fortunate to already have an somewhat complete roster/staff?

I say three to five years...

The article buys time for Gus, with nothing but words.

The only thing worse than a coach or CEO who doesn't care about his people is one who pretends to care. People can spot a phony every time.

Mistake #1...

You must realize that what you want will/should be obtainable. It's a matter of when it'll be obtainable and you have to be Patient during this process, and it is a process. 85% of the pieces of the puzzle are in place. When the team gets healthy and learns how to win, the wins willl come bountyful...

Quote:Bortles looked more capable since preseason game #1. This organization was kidding itself acting like he was going to sit for an entire year behind that bum. Bortles should have been starting from game 1. That is what is typically expected of top picks these days.

lol. Now ,now, you are going to rile up the few Henne fans w have in here. They know who they are.

I survived the Gus Bradley Error.

id have been happy with 5 or 6 wins this season as long as we didnt have that gloomy feeling of hopelessness and embarrassment hanging above our heads...... like we do.....

Does anyone wonder if the coaching staff is blowing stuff on purpose? I know, this kind of thinking doesn't exist; because everyone plays to win. I get it, I really do. But I just don't comprehend some of these roster moves and the total inconsistancy. They can't be that lost can they? I don't know. My gut says this was truly the plan (high draft picks); but my head says they just suck...... I know, I know, don't trust your gut lol

GO JAGS!!

Let's Get Em!!!! Go Jags!

Ummm maybe because everyone deals with injuries? You think Fowler makes this team 4-2?

Gus should have been able to beat TB Indy and Houston. Period. The season was gift wrapped and instead of competing for the division, we are competing for the top pick once again.

I refuse to put an exact # to the possibility of Fowler Jr. being healty but I'm certain that we'd be Much Better w/him than w/o him win wise. Also the loses to said teams were contributed to team turnovers, injuries and penalties. How did Gus contribute to these deficiencies?
