I think paying a RB in free agency is a bad idea no matter how good the RB is. To pay a guy who is a backup is even worse.

Was Caldwell with the Falcons when they got Michael Turner (who was Tomlinson's back up) from the Chargers? He may have been thinking he can recreate that magic with Toby. What Caldwell didn't account for was #becausejaguars

..... forgot to account for Toby being slow & white too.  He probably thought what Toby gained with his Stanford education could mathematically offset any talent deficiencies.  Perhaps we could better utilize him to engineer future Stadium Renovations.

My point was we needed a RB before last year and they wanted to wait another year to draft a good RB so they just took a flyer on a backup RB behind Peterson that looked okay there. We have so much cap room and we can easily just drop him when we need the cap room for pretty much no cost. It didn't work out obviously and he shouldn't see the field but to call this a Caldwell bust is stupid. He is completely dispensable and will have no future implications. The coaches just need to stop using him. That's them seeing something that isn't there.

Gerhart is an effective runner when he gets 3 yards of starting speed and a gap in the hole, but on the goal line everything is bunched up too much. I don't think that's where you want to use him. You want to use him on the 50 when you've got 3rd and 3 with the linemen spread and WR's on the outside.

After so many press reporters asked HC Gus Bradley as to why Toby Gerhart got the ball all four times at the Goalline, it appears TJ Yeldon will now be the Goalline back on the depth chart...

Bernard Pierce pled quilty to the drunk driving chargers in a plea bargain to avoid jail time but will be suspend by the NFL most likely, so maybe Toby gets to keep a roster spot for that reason alone.
