Blake Bortles nominated for Clutch Performer of the Week

#21

Quote:It is funny (to me) that WR Allen Hurns isnt up there but rather QB Blake Bortles... I mean sure he rolled out and made the pass but it wasnt a perfect pass, Hurns had to dive for it despite being wide open for the end zone...

I wonder how great WR Allen Hurns would be if say he was on the Patriots... just saying..

Quote:What are the chances Hurns is laying out like that if Rodgers made the throw?

So then you're saying Rodgers would have made a perfect throw, avoiding pressure, and rolling to his LEFT?

Probably. Rodgers makes throws like that look routine. You have to understand though, Rodgers isn't a human being.

You also have to understand that Rodgers has been in the league for 11 years.

Actually, if Hurns doesn't make that incredible diving catch to score the TD,, most people would be all over Blake for blowing a wide open TD with a horrible throw.

It is what it is.

That doesn't mean we don't like or don't support Bortles.

Horrible throw?  Great play by Hurns, but that was far from a horrible throw.  He had to lead Hurns away from the db in coverage and get it over the db covering Lewis.  Not sure he could have placed that ball any better.  Plus I'm sure he didn't know the guy covering Hurns was going to pull up a little bit.  Looked liked he pulled a groin or something.

Right handed QB senses pressure, climbs pocket, escapes left, throws 30 yards on the run for a game winning TD pass at the pylon.

Bad pass.

You guys and you're horrible throw, my god.  That was a thing of beauty, safely put out for Hurns to win us the game.

Why is Rodgers being mentioned in this thread while talking about Blake?  21 Games. Thank you.

It wasn't a bad or horrible pass. Come on now. I was saying above how Hurns had to make an incredible catch to come down with it, and that's most definitely true, but that wasn't an easy pass to make. It was where it had to be at a minimum, and that made it a good pass. It wasn't a perfect pass, but horrible? Not even.

Honestly, I think it was as good a pass as it could be.

He put the pass down and away and aimed it for just inside the pylon so that the only person that could make the catch was Hurns. And he still had to navigate the facts that 1. he needed to get enough air under it in order to clear Darby #28, and 2. he needed enough zip on it so that Hurns wasn't waiting on it and Graham #20 didn't have a chance to break on it.

I mean, great Quarterbacks do great things and all but I'm rather certain they don't break the laws of Physics.

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

Aaron Rodgers might.

Why is everyone making a big deal about what Allen Hurns had to do? It was a clutch performance by Blake Bortles because he put the ball where Hurns could catch it, knowing his target has the ability to get to a football that is not thrown perfectly. The pass does not need to be perfect. It just needs to be good enough for the intended receiver to do his job. It's part of being a quarterback and one of the things they practice every week. And don't forget this followed some bad passes earlier in the game, so it could have been a lot worse even if Hurns dropped the ball.

This.

Rodgers puts that pass in pretty much the same exact spot.

Have we reached a point where a segment is now complaining about touchdown passes? SMH
