If Zeke fell to the 2nd, would you consider him after taking Yeldon this year?

Nope. To much else needed at LB, secondary, o-line

Nope. We aren't good enough as a team to be making luxury picks.

Really depends on who is on the board at the time. I would consider it, Elliot is a stud, probably better than Yeldon.

Absolutely, BAP is the best long term solution to roster construction.

I made a little tweak there.

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

If Elliott was eligible for the draft this year, I would have wanted him instead of Yeldon. Not just because he is a Buckeye, but also what he does on the field.

BTW there is no A in his name. I wish subject titles could be edited.

No it's not. BAP makes sense in the first round, maybe second, but after that, all picks should be based on needs.

So if a QB is the BAP when we pick then we should draft him? Wallbash

Exactly - you have to pick what you need. Pick a quarterback because you need one, not how good he is. The same is true with running backs. If we don't need a running back, we should pass on Elliott.

When it comes to drafting players, NEED is important, but NEED should be the TIE BREAKER when it comes to deciding between players with similar talent rankings. When a player that your scouts rated highly falls to you, you have to take him and look at the selection as making the most sense for the long term health of the team.

A.J. Cann is a perfect example of a highly rated player falling and forcing Dave Caldwell's hand in drafting him in Rd 3 of the 2015 draft.

A.J. Cann was 100% a need player. Highly talented, yes. But a big problem on our roster is depth so we needed to draft a backup offensive lineman. Fortunately a good one fell to us in Round 3.

If Elliot is available in the 2nd we should 100% pull the trigger...

Nope, don't know how you think I could be. We were at our best when we had a 1-2 punch at the RB position, we are a running team, and Gerhart is our back up. If a 1st round talent fell to us in the 2nd, it's reasonable to ask. There seems to be a split amongst the posters. Some say absolutely, some say no. I'm definitely not kidding.

This draft looks to have a nice linebacker draft. A few of those that will be available in the 2nd round will be better players than Elliot and at a position that is more important. Runningbacks are a dime a dozen.

Are you forgetting who we drafted this year? An outside linebacker who will be our next Leo. With Telvin Smith on one side and Dante Fowler on the other, OLB is not a dire need that must be addressed early in the draft. Paul Posluszny does not show any signs of going to another team, so we just need a backup in the middle too. How high would you want to draft a backup?

Fowler will play DE not OLB

Hybrid? OLB/DE/Leo
