Pac12 out of playoff picture now?
|
Utah getting steamrolled by USC in LA tonight. Barring a miraculous comeback, there will be no more unbeaten teams remaining in the Pac12. And only two teams, Stanford and Utah, will have just one loss. One of those two would have to win out and then get some help from the other conferences.

If Clemson some how clempsons on FSU I think the ACC is in a bad spot too.
Lsu/bama/florida
TCU/Baylor Michigan state/Ohio state Stanford/Utah/FSU/Any of the teams above who don't beat the others
I was going to start a thread titled "Why did everyone love the Pacific 12?" because Stanford, Calfiornia, UCLA, USC, ASU, and Oregon were all called good teams early in the season. That is half of the conference. USC does not have a head coach and Oregon dropped from the top five to unranked. I am not hearing anything about UCLA or ASU anymore. People seem to still like Stanford but now we know their opponents were overrated. Not even Utah can't avoid a blowout loss.
Of course Utah can't be ruled out yet. No SEC or ACC teams are undefeated either. We all learned last year without a conference championship game, Baylor and TCU need to go undefeated to get in the playoffs. So UT is still likely to get in. Thing is, the FSU loss might just be the "perfect storm" for Clemson. That kind of thing tends to get a team's attention and can keep them on track throughout the rest of the season. If FSU puts a chip on their shoulder, they might be in a position to ruin Clemson's season.
I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.
Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

Golston is very average and Dalvin Cook has been carrying them. The win over The U looked halfway decent until Clemson rolled them up 42-0 in the 1st half alone. Quote:I'm just not certain FSU has another gear to turn it up a notch. I am right there with ya, and on paper no way does FSU beat Clemson. - But! - We're talking about college football here. Crazy stuff happens. That's why I stated that it may be a 'perfect storm' type of scenario for Clemson to have it's seasoned blemished.

Quote:I'm not seeing that, but it isn't completely out of the realm of possibility. The ACC has one undefeated team. The SEC and Pacific 12 have none. Baylor and TCU have a scheduled meeting, so one of them has to lose. Temple's next opponent is Notre Dame. So the probability of Clemson making it is good now - if they beat FSU, of course, which is not an easy task.

Quote:No SEC team is undefeated? That must be news to LSU. I read some reports online that no SEC teams are undefeated. Obviously whoever wrote that does not know about LSU. Of course if you insert the word East, that statement is correct. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! OK so let's see if we can find four undefeated teams to make the playoffs.
SEC - LSU ACC - Clemson Big Ten - Ohio State Big 12 - TCU That leaves out the Pacific 12, which has no undefeated teams. I excluded Baylor because QB Seth Russell is out for the year. |
