Quote:The BIG is 95-89-7 all time vs the SECAnd in the past 15 years, the SEC is the only BCS conference that has a winning record in bowl games. SEC is 73-50. The Big 10/11/12 is 47-59. In BCS Bowls the SEC is 17-8 in BCS Bowl games, the Big 10/11/12 is 12-14.

Quote: I think you need to check your stats..here is a game by game breakdown:http://www.secsportsfan.com/big-ten-vs-s...tats1.html Just repeated what I've read. I didn't go through CollegeFootballDataWarehouse and add them up one by one. The Big 10/11/12 is 47-59.That might have something to do with playing every bowl game basically at home. The B1G and the SEC play 3 bowl games in Florida every year, and they usually come out with a slight SEC victory or a split (in the years when Gator wasn't there). If these games were played in Chicago, things would look A LOT different. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
In fact, in just about every big ten bowl game, they are traveling to the opponents home state or at least a bordering state. Rose bowl, Buffalo Wild Wings, Texas, Heart of Dallas, Gator, Outback, Capital One.

; ; "This is really good, you want a bite, Honey?" Quote:Spin it however you wish.Actually the statement may have merit depending on the weather. I can't imagine southern teams playing on a hard, slippery and frozen field in January when the air temperature is below freezing. Speed is nullified and a big bruising line suddenly has the upper hand not to mention a power back running north and south vs a quick cut back style running back. It is a quandry for teams in the north. Do you build a team to compete and win on a national level or do you win your conference which will allow you to play those national teams but at a disadvantage. Urban Meyer is going to test this time honored belief now that he has brought a southern style mentality to Big 10 country. We will get our first glimpse when OSU meets MSU in Indianapolis.

At some point you just have to let go of what you thought should happen and live in what is happening. Quote:That might have something to do with playing every bowl game basically at home. I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Quote:Never a shortage of excuses why the Big10/11/12 does poorly! If being the by far best overall conference historically is doing poorly, then how would you describe less successful conferences like the SEC and Big 12? I also believe if there were more bowls up north, particularly bigger bowls, they'd be played indoors, like the Big 10 Title game will be.

I agree with that. The weather element is being taken out of sports.
Quote:Not at all, and it was a southern college I played at.Then you did not play in the weather I speak of. Take a look at the OSU vs Indiana game right now. That field is slick and the ability to cut is questionable. The ball is hard and the receivers hands are numb. It makes the passing game less effective. Although with all the improvements in the sports turf the footing is a whole lot less of a concern. The numb hands however will always be an issue especially once your hands get wet. I still have nightmares about dropping a ball over the middle that hit me square in the hands.
