If this groin injury isn't a major strain/tear, then we should learn something about him between November 8 and January 3rd.

I think writing him off now is foolish. I'll leave it at that and move on from the topic. 

 

I'd like to believe he's learned his lessons and will change his approach to the game, but I doubt it. The only incentive he had was a contract, and now he's got it.

We are halfway through the season, and JT has barely made it on the field. Sure, injuries happen, but they are also much more likely to happen when you show up fat and out of shape. The guy has had a history of character concerns, particularly about his commitment to football. That seems to be consistent with the fact that he turned down a deal with the Broncos because it was filled with incentive based conditions, and chose to leave his best chance for success playing for a contender to take more guaranteed money to play for one of the worst teams in the NFL. Competitive players in their prime do not leave the best opportunity to win because they are worried they won't be able to prove their worth on a consistent basis. So what does he do? Takes a whole lot of guaranteed money and show up fat and out of shape for a team out of the media's eye where he can fade into obscurity.


But what about when he has been on the field? His production has been average and no where near the elite playmaker he was paid to be. His numbers (rates) are down across the board. Either way you slice it, he has been a major bust thus far.

See, that wasn't so hard. If you believe the above about competitive players don't play for the money and only to win than you are virtually against every free agent signing in football.

Hell no because he helps this offense and open things up for everyone else in the passing game. Every game he played he was doubled which in turn open up other people on this team and that's a good thing.

If Thomas' doesn't injure his finger, we're all singing a different tune.

 

If he comes back from this minor groin injury and puts up some yards with some TDs, it'll be a good signing.

Curious to see how the contract is structured...

Thomas has one undeniable virtue for this team... because of what he did in Denver, he automatically demands attention from opposing defenses when he goes downfield, something that was/is unnecessary with M. Lewis. Because of the possibility of the threat he posses he has to be covered, which opens things up some for our other receivers. Now, if in the course of time it becomes obvious that Thomas is here 'on vacation', then he becomes a liability; but unless or until that happens, his just being on the field helps. That's the benefit of having a 'big name' on the team; it takes some pressure off of other players regardless of if the 'star' does anything substantial or not.

 

At least, that's how I interpret the 'Thomas affair'.

While I understand what Bacon is saying.  I also believe JT was in serious pain and was hoping could be excused.  Coming from a guy who has had a hernia operation.  This is far fetched to prove any point.  Cause before that operation I didn't care what was going on.  All you can focus on its the severe pain.  

 

For those who never had one.  I compare it to major headaches where any light makes your head pound.  Or on par with a dry socket.  Believe me.  Gus agreeing or not agreeing with his speech.  Had nothing to do with the way he reacted.

I'm okay with Julius. Now I was on the verge of calling him soft, but when we really needed him to come through he did. Quite frankly the Jaguars were running out of weapons on offense up against a tough Bucs defense, and they needed Julius to play that game. His hand was still questionable, but he came through for the team and played well. It sucks that Poz had to miss the game wherein our defense ultimately lost it, but that's an entirely different story. Julius did his part. Now he has a legitimate groin injury. At this point maybe it's fair to call the guy "injury prone," but he hasn't even missed a game yet with this new injury. We can't already say that he's soft as a result. Even if he does miss the Jets game with the groin there may be just cause, and if he does the soft speculation at least makes some sense, but we don't even know yet that he's going to miss it. If he plays, I feel like a few posters in this thread are going to have egg in their face.

Maybe things will finally break our way and we'll have a healthy Yeldon, Thomas, Greene and Lee going forward. Could completely turn the AFC South upside down. The talent is there but i'm still not optimistic the coaching. However, coaches are human and i'd like to think they can learn from their mistakes as well. Just maybe we have a chance.

We have to play at least two more games before Greene can return. Question is, will Lee be ready to go before Greene returns. If not that's just sad beyond measure. The trade deadline is 4pm on November 3rd. I'd love to hear word that the Jaguars pulled off a trade involving Marquis for a fourth round pick. As for Julius, he recently said something to the effect that he's ready to go for the Jets game making this entire thread a waste of time.
