Not sure how downgrading your qb helps a struggling team

SF scored 3, and 6 points the last two weeks.  How much more of a downgrade will it be?  They'll now score 0 points?  Most SF fans are well aware that Gabbert is a piece of junk.  But everyone is acting like they're giving up on a pro bowler for him.  They're not.  Gabbert may be the worst in the league, but Kaep is right behind (or in front of) him.

Tomsula should have never taken this job. Cause he will be the next guy to fall.

Wasn't he their fourth or fifth choice anyway? It was clear from his first press conference that Tomsula is in over his head, perhaps even more so than Bradley. The fact that the 49ers appear to be in full-on tank mode less than halfway into his first season suggests that he's gone. I never really got the impression that Tomsula was a long-term guy, more of a sacrificial lamb to oversee the dismantling before a more qualified coach stepped in to build the team back up.

 

I highly doubt that the GM is safe, either. My guess is that Tomsula is fired at the end of the season and ownership ends up hiring a big-name coach currently out of the league, then giving him full control over the roster, free agency and the draft at Trent Baalke's expense.
