"Slightly at best" is correct. I liked Monroe and thought he was solid but IMO he never reached the potential I thought he had. In his last season here in Jax he still would still get beat by the same pass rush moves as he did as a rookie. The frequency in which he got beat was much less but the fact that he hadn't elevated his game to the level of rarely getting beat by the same moves was troubling. I liked Monroe but had no problems with Caldwell trading him away for picks.

 

Joeckel has slowly corrected some of his issues from last season. My hope is that he slowly continues to improve his weaknesses over time and shapes himself into a quality LT. I don't have expectations of an All-Pro LT but if he is somebody who is just rock solid and is a guy the team doesn't have to worry about going forward he will be alright in my eyes. I don't hold his draft position against him, I just want him to continue his improvement and help the team

You don't draft guys early first round to be "rock solid", you draft them to be the All Pros and cornerstones of the team. However, if you make a mistake in the assessment and the guy goes from garbage to being a dependable starter then that's the best you can hope for.

I'm just not one to get hung up on where people get drafted. Yeah when you draft somebody that high you expect an All-Pro but I just don't see that happening. So you move past where he was drafted and hope that he can be that "rock solid" LT that allows the team to draft positions elsewhere. The guy can play the next ten years as a quality LT and people would still be unhappy that he was drafted second overall and wasn't a multiple time All-Pro. At some point you just have to move past where the guy was drafted if he's playing well enough to help the team win. At this point I would say Luke is playing well enough to help the team win.

I have to hand it to Joekel for reaching deep down and bringing out his best. The guy struggled big time last year in his first full season, and the struggled big time this preseason. He came out week one allowing a sack in the first half and then got hurt. It wasn't looking for good for him as he'd go on to miss the next two games. But Luke came back week four and has stacked together four solid starts. He's truly held his own and looks like he might be on the verge of having a breakout season.


 

The Jaguars are on a bye as look ahead toward a road game at a tough Jets team with one of the league's best DLs. This in my mind is a prove it game for Luke, and my expectations for him are rather high. Moreover, I feel like Joekel has more than held his own this past four weeks as the guy next to him, Zane Beedles, has been abused out there lately. Now there is some thought that Zane has been forced to play through injury and may even miss the Jets game, but for Luke's part, he's really done a stellar job lately and the improvement is most definitely noticeable.

Maybe for a late round pick he'd be useful but I'm not sure he's worth giving up on Joeckel for. He's 31 in a month and is on the downswing.

I don't think we make any changes to the O-Line. It could be better but I don't think bringing in Joe Thomas and/or Alex Mack is what is going to make it better. Continuity and chemistry is part of what this line lacks and bringing in two new, old starters to replace our young guys is not going to help that.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Bowanko make a move for either the C or LG job. It's easy to forget that he was playing pretty well towards the end of last year.

It's not like there are a ton of great left tackles out there. Joeckel, whether you choose to believe it or not, is top-15. He's mid-pack. Hardly what was expected of him, but he's still a decent starter.

so basically PFF's view is that the Center has played great, that Cann is no Linder (not even close, gave Cann bad grades) and that Beadles has struggled as well..

I guess if it wasnt for Marrone the Oline would be much worse...
