And apparently the City agrees with you. I base this on the following statement:

This tells me that the actual residents of the city will not 'see' the impact of the funding and that other sources of income for the city can be used to support those things you describe. Besides, while all of those things are important for the maintenance and development of the city, none of them make money for the city. This is something that the city and it's people can use to make money and fund other, important items.

Face it, Khan has vision and does not put limits on what he can accomplish. Why can't Jacksonville host another Super Bowl and not act like they're lucky to have it? Why can't they be a place where the NCAA wants to have their title game?

And getting all of those things would bring millions to our city!!!!!!!!!

Libraries. This has been the kind of vision in city council. Libraries. Don't forget the courthouse!

Are you sure. I thought most events and such that require these type of structures end up being effectively cash flow neutral. 

 

I mean haven't there been numerous studies about sports teams not actually increasing city GDP, and how recent Super Bowls and events losing money for cities that had to create infrastructure for them, as in they did not end up in the constant rotation.

 

I'm not saying we should not look to improve the city and infrastructure, but I'm not certain this produces the most bang for the buck.

There are not many cities with a professional sports team that an owner could come in and make a huge impact in shaping the direction of the city. I do think Khan enjoys being in a position to shape a major metropolitan area. The man has a near blank slate to work with. This wouldn't be possible in Chicago or New York

Khan is the King of Jacksonville...... Whatever Khan wants Khan gets..... the city government bows down for the man. ....and that seems to mean good things for all parties involved.

I wonder how much advantage and impact an indoor training facility will have once built. We always complain of soft tissue injuries during camp. Can climate control help reduce these injuries? Id like to think it can if a player is getting any kind of dehydrated causing muscles to not function correctly.

This is all great, and I look forward to our city growing. But crowning Khan is premature. It's business, theres eventual profit here.

The Weavers are true philanthropists, although they never subscribed to the go big or go home philosophy.


The practice facility, locker rooms, weight room are all nice, and the team is improving. But until there's a home playoff game,IMO, this is average chassis getting a Rolls Royce body.

Hopefully the team grows as its surroundings are. I'm optimistic it will.

I agree, and the theater goes without saying...concerts and other things, but what does the city get out of the club level upgrades and indoor practice facility?

You should also not buy something you do not have the money for.  They are talking about decades of repayment.  That doesn't seem smart IMO.

Khan is the one with the determination and vision to get this city out of it's primitive, "goody-goody" shackles chaining down Jacksonville's potential.

 

With regards to the Weavers, I highly respect them and give them the highest praise imaginable but WE (as a franchise and city) needed someone with the go big or go home philosophy. That type of mindset is one that will keep you down in mediocrity and content with it. 

 

This city has the potential to thrive even further and I, along with many others, am jubilated by Khan and his forward-thinking mentality and what he gets accomplished for this city.

 

Also, why not praise him for making positive business moves that would benefit the city and the team in the short and long term? He didn't become a billionaire for no reason and he clearly he knows what he is doing.

 

I support Khan and his ideas to the fullest extent.
