Gore's numbers are way down and atypical for him.

 

I'm assuming you're suggesting Gore isn't being used properly, but has done well with his few opportunities.  Asking only because I haven't seen him fed the ball enough to notice whether or not he's been good with those few chances.

Frank Gore has been good and is no where near done. Ask any Colts fan (or anyone who has watched every Colts game), Gore has been a really, really good addition to the team.

 

He's on pass for 1,032 yards and currently has a 4.3 average. So, he's on pace for 1,000+ rushing yards and with the Colts that's very rare.

 

Colts haven't had a RB with over 600 yards since Vick Ballard in 2012 and he finished with 814.

 

Haven't had a 1,000 yard rusher since Joseph Addai in 2007 and he finished with 1,072.

Fans always hate the HC first, then the OC. Look at Jaguars fans - they hate Gus Bradley but don't complain about Greg Olson.

That's because our offense isn't really our problem.

 

The defense, the scheme, whatever the defensive issues have been, and the overall ineptitude of the team, falls on the HC not the OC.

 

But when a high scoring team suddenly stops scoring a bunch, and you can't bench your #1 overall drafted sure-fire-once-in-a-lifetime QB, you gotta fire the OC.

It's not that Hamilton is a horrible coordinator. He's proven that he's not. It's that Pagano is desperate and looking to make some change, any change, that gives Irsay a possible reason not to fire him next week.

 

Wasn't Hamilton Luck's OC at Stanford? It'll be interesting to see how Luck responds, on and off the field, if so.

 

  I've praised Andrew Luck repeatedly in past seasons.   This season though,  Luck's injuries and play contributed to Pep Hamilton being fired more than any other reason.   Hamilton probably will get another NFL OC job at some point and maybe even go on to become a good Head Coach.   In general,  there are some coaches who actually are better suited to being a HC than a Coordinator.   W/o saying,  I have no idea where Hamilton fits in that equation.

 

  Pep Hamilton indeed was Andrew Luck's OC with Stanford.   Though Luck probably is disturbed by Hamilton being fired,  he needs to put that behind him fast both for himself and from a Colts standpoint.   The Broncos top flight Defense is going to provide Luck with a tremendous challenge that even Aaron Rodgers ended up on the short end of the stick.

 

  While Chuck Pagano is desperate,   I'm still far from convinced Pagano made the decision to fire Hamilton.   Regardless,  Pagano could be out of work if the Broncos game gets ugly.

Mike McCarthy is exhibit A when discussing guys who are better head coaches than coordinators. Pep is a pretty good coordinator, though. How Luck responds to his firing will go a big way towards determining Pagano's future. If the offense improves under Chud, that might be enough to save Pagano temporarily. If it continues to flounder, Pagano is as good as gone.

That said, if Pagano reports to Ryan Grigson, I could envision a scenario in which Grigson told Pagano to fire Hamilton--or just did so himself--in an effort to prove that it was Pagano's poor choice of assistant coaches and not Grigson's talent that was tanking the team.

   I thought Mike McCarthy did a very good job as a play caller as Packers HC.   This season, he gave up the play calling but was their play caller in his previous 9 seasons with the team.   Of course, having Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers as your QB makes play calling much more effective compared to the likes of Aaron Brooks and Alex Smith.  

 

   Even if it wasn't Jim Irsay that made the decision to fire Pep Hamilton,  there's no question on this end that the decision had to be approved by Irsay.   

 

   Because Ryan Grigson's job could be on the line as well,   it's certainly a realistic possibility that Grigson is the one who made the decision  ( with Irsay's approval ).  

 

   If Grigson is let go,   the obstacle Irsay will have in getting a G.M candidate in demand to take the job is Irsay's hands on approach and public personality that he has displayed in the post Bill Polian era.
