The Giant Fire Gus & Dave Thread (MERGED)

Quote:Uhh...you think coach straps on helmet and blitzs the passer? Do you think our pass rushers are underperforming/under utilized? Is Bradley holding branch back or does he just suck? Is ryan Davis the future? Chris smith?

The fact that we don't blitz the passer is the point. A four man rush is not working, it's this idiots job to recognize that and adjust, that's what that moron is getting paid millions of dollars for. The fact that he hasn't realized how to adjust his scheme to the players he has after two and a half seasons proves how incompetent he has been so far as a head coach.

But who knows, maybe he's finally figured out how to adjust, we are about to find out.

Quote:Ryan Davis is too busy on special teams to waste time being a competent pass rusher.

Now, now. That would be coachspeak for "he is not good enough to take snaps from Clemons." You should know Gus is not the kind of coach to throw players under the (gus) bus. It's just one of the reasons the players continue to play as hard as they do for him.

When Clemons is the starter and the backups struggle for playing time...

...it illustrates just how vacant the position really is.

Special teams, man. It's all about maintaining the level of play on special teams.

Serious question. If we somehow win the divison at 6-10 or 7-9 Gus stays next year right?

I mean it's hard to fire a guy when you get to the playoffs for the first time in forever, even if it's with a bad record.

What if we tie the divison with Indy at 7-9 but they win it on tie breakers? Do we still fire him?
IT WAS ALWAYS THE JAGS

7-9 is fine. That means we went 5-4 down the stretch and that his plan might actually be working.

4 wins and he gone.

I think we've had this discussion before.  To me it really depends on how he begins to coach.  I mean, if he's still doing the same stupid stuff and we are winning in spike of Bradley, I don't care if we make the playoffs or not, he should be fired.

Of course, that's just me.  And I have a blind, white hot rage of hatred towards Bradley.

Obviously, if we go 7-9, he's keeping his job, no matter how much ! drool, froth, and bet wet...  Heck, if we go 7-9, I'm sure there would actually be cognizant arguments that can be made that Gus Bradley SHOULD keep his job.

Here's my concern---  We go 6-10 or 7-9 and he keeps his job...  Then next year we start the same way... 2-5 or 3-6 before they bye...  I mean, the guy just seems to not know how to coach a real football team.

But again, that's me being highly critical of Bradley.  I'm not gonna give that dude the benefit of the doubt untill he earns it.  He had 3 games that he really should have coached better.  There were 3 games where I was 100% backing Bradley.  But he let me down for all 3 games.  I'm not gonna trust that idiot until he proves he's not an idiot.

If the team goes 7-9, it means they finish 5-4. That would be as many wins as Gus has had in his last 26 games.

I am sure he keeps his job if they get to 7, whether they win the division or not. But I still think it's a longshot based on the first two and half years of his tenure here.

Dude, was a winner.  Gus is a loser.

Give me Del-Rio any day.

The guy had us fighting for playoff spots in December with a Gene Smith created dumpster fire of players.

By the way, in 3 years, Gus has fired or benched (IE thrown players and coaches under the bus) players and coaches as well.  I'm not sure why you are putting wings and a halo on Bradley.  Look what he did to House.  Look how he handled Fish...  I think you are white-washing your own perceptions in order to defend your position.  That's not very objective of you.

What are you goin on about? Fish? He was berating the qb. House made mistakes, was held accountable. Del rio jettisoned Stroud and Peterson #becausemeathead. He also lost the team and was fired mid season. He also had MJD and Fred Taylor his entire run so I don't know why you credit him as a "winner" despite a bad roster. It really wasn't that bad. At all.

Gus has his team playing hard. Until he loses his players, I'll be in his corner. Can you honestly say he isn't getting the most out of this roster? What should he be doing different?

There's a huge difference between how Gus handled coaches and players and how Del Rio did.

Del Rio swapped out coordinators on a constant basis when he was here, 99.9% of people here wanted Fisch gone and anyways he needed to be because he tried to fit players into his offense instead of working his offense around the players. I think most here would agree that was more justified than any of Del Rio's firings.

Del Rio was also hated by a lot of the players who played here including some greats like Stroud, Peterson, and Fred Taylor. It's the exact opposite with Bradley and that's also completely different from House's one week benching, which I did disagree with. That's more equivalent to his benching of Derek Cox than anything.

Nothings changed in terms of wins needed for Gus. Just like I've been saying since before the Preseason and all along...

Six wins and Gus is safe.

Any less and we'll see what happens. I'd like to think five or less and he's gone, but that's tougher to predict. There are nine games left. To be on the safe side for Gus' sake, this team had better at least go 4-5 from here on out.

You really think Orange Park will be able to pull together enough funding for that stadium deal?

Stroud was done by the time he left the Jaguars.   I remember him having to have micro fracture surgery.  I loved Stroud, I still rock his 99 Jersey, but that's a terrible example.

By the end of the stint, Fred Taylor was gone.  I'll concede MJD, but consider this...  With basically the same roster, JDR had a higher win total than Mularkey did...  I think it's not a far extrapolation to consider that Bradley would have only won 2 games in that Mularkey year as well.  Again, a 2 win year with the same team that JDR won I think 5 games the prior year.

Shouldn't be a problem.  All we have to do is move the scoreboards into the dog track.

When you get into the endzone, act like you've been there before.

Doctor's Inlet can handle all the cruise ships for our next Super Bowl, right?
