What is the case against Johnny Football?

Quote:And the Houston Texans select, Franchise Killer out of TAMU, Johnny MANZIELLLL! And then you wake up in dire need of a underwear change. We show less advertisements to registered users. My god these people...
Quote:Meanwhile Brett Smith the guy I've told y'all actually is what everyone wants Manziel to be has 597 yards and the game isn't over.i wasnt impressed with him when he played fresno st. a few weeks ago
Quote:Watched Bridgewater today, watching LSU and Texas A&M now.... Sure is nice to have a running game and to be playing against one of the worst defenses in the NCAA Quote:i wasnt impressed with him when he played fresno st. a few weeks agoHe started out pretty wel, then fell apart once they got behind. Wyoming has literally the worst oline in FBS and once teams know Brett has to throw to catch up it gets real ugly real fast. We show less advertisements to registered users. Quote:He's on par with Doug Flutie....flash in the pan. Wait till he meets up with a NFL defensive gameplan going against players every bit as quick as him....they'll destroy the leprechaun. Doug Flutie could actually play in the NFL, he just never got a legit shot to and had to go to canada.. however when he did come in from "robo QB", he always made plays. He came into the league during a era when NFL teams didn't give you a chance if you didn't pass the eye test. Russell Wilson would've been another Flutie back in those days. My biggest beef with Manziel isn't even his size.. It's his attitude (the guy has a silver spoon shoved up his rear end) and his character concerns (I'm weary of a alcohol problem here).. then it's his ability or lack there of to actually be able to play in the NFL. He lacks arm strength on some of his passes, he can't avoid big hits and doesn't protect the ball when he scrambles (carries it like a loaf of bread out there), and with the way he plays he's going to be like a bug smashing against someone's windshield. He's bails out on passing plays at the first sign of pressure to take off and run. He won't even last to the bye week if he plays like that at the next level. And yes, like someone else said, some of his passes are inaccurate as hell.
Quote:haha....aren't we defensive.....you Bridgewater homers are something lol, He isn't just a Bridgewater homer.. you're talking to the president of the Bridgewater fan club. I'm not high on either one of these two QBs. I've said it before.. this is a deep QB draft, yes.. But it isn't a draft with a #1 sure fire ringer. It's why there's even discussion for Manziel possibly being a top ten pick. I'd take one of the other premier talents at another position and look to pick up one of the other QBs in the 2nd round, and there isn't much drop off if any in talent. I would be very happy with either Bridgewater or Mariota.

Manziel is not on Russell Wilsons level
Such an asinine comparison, the only thing that make them similar is height. Wilson is better at everything else Bigger arm, stockier build, accurate, footwork, and of course head up, Wilson is in a whole different league Quote:Manziel is not on Russell Wilsons levelYou forgot the biggest one. Wilson is ice water in the pocket. Manziel looks like someone cut his head off when he's forced to stay in the pocket. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Damn, LSU is doing everything to keep A&M in this game. Stupid penalty after stupid penalty.
I pray that all of the Manziel supporters on these forums are watching this game.
Quote:Manziel is not on Russell Wilsons level Manziel is 20.....at this point you'd have to compare them both at the college level....could he become a Russell....at least that's what Drew Bree's and Troy Aikmen think.....but what the hell do they know next to you guys. And just threw a pick.. They can call that a attempt at a back shoulder throw.. Even if it was it hung up horribly.
I'm still questionable on his arm. You'll see him have some decent throws and then you'll see some absolute wobbly ducks be thrown. So at this point I'll put him down as can't consistently throw downfield and will hang some up from time to time. Quote:It's because his mechanics are so inconsistent. When he has decent footwork and really steps into his throws he has plenty of velocity and pretty good accuracy. Unfortunately he loves throwing off balance and off his back foot and he changes arm slots as much as Stafford does.

Unfortunately he loves throwing off balance and off his back foot and he changes arm slots as much as Stafford does. Matt has the arm to get away with it though. Manziel even on his good throws doesn't have a plus NFL arm. With the way he plays he rarely throws with a solid base and that's one of the things that makes his game so exciting at the college level, but he can't have great success at the next level unless he changes that.. so it's a catch 22 and you don't really know what type of prospect he'll be at the next level if you take that away from his game. That's one of the answers to the question that this thread asked. People thought I was crazy on the Texans board when I said I wouldn't even consider him until the 3rd round. If he wasn't "Johnny Football" and didn't have so much hype (these idiot announcers actually compared him to Mickey Mantle) and people actually looked at his flaws, that's exactly about where he would go.. maybe even lower. He isn't the prospect that RG3 was who played in that system. |
