It's preposterous to believe innit?

Quote:he's had an incredible improvement from year 1 to year 2... but let's keep things in perspective here.  He has a long way to go.

Has anybody said he doesn't? He needs to get his comp % up and turnovers down. He's also only halfway through his second season and he's playing for a rather incompetent head coach.

I look around the league and see the top QB's (Brady, Rodgers, Rivers, Roethlisberger, Brees) as guys with 10 years or more in the league.

Quote:a lot of INTs can be OK when you throw a lot of touchdowns, a good completion percentage, and overall score a lot more points than you set up.
but Blake does throw a lot of touchdowns. The difference is that those guys have a defense and running game to help them out and put them in position to win even when they mess up. If Blake messes up it's game over. That's a lot of pressure on a second year player.

Quote:BB5 is the best QB in the AFS, hands down.

When you consider the fact that he's hamstrung by a terrible coach, the worst O-Line in division, and a defense that is being coached by the worst head coach in NFL history, you gotta see that BB5 is special.

Just imagine when we actually have a real coach instead of a [BLEEP] to deal with.

Anyone that watches each AFSC team play can see how much better Blake is compared to the rest of the QBs.  The thing that kills BB5 is the fact that he is hamstrung by a [BLEEP].  It's hard to be successful when a [BLEEP] is holding you back.

If Payton hits the open market, I hope Khan hands him a blank check. Just make sure he hires an experienced defensive coordinator.

Bret Favre had 9 seasons with 18+ picks ( plenty more years with 15+), 7 seasons under 60% completion rate. By Baconator's standards, he really sucked.

Quote:He's on pace for 34 TD's in his second season

Carr is on pace for nearly 40 with less than half the INTs, a 65% completion rate, and nearly 8 YPA. Mariota is on pace for nearly 40 with less than half the INTs, a 64% completion rate and around 7 YPA. Inflated TD numbers aren't that impressive relative to the rest of young NFL QBs. Its a passing driven league now, and while Bortles can keep up with raw TD numbers, he is so horribly inefficient to other young QBs.

Quote:Someone said he throws "way more than the good ones". Examples were given proving that is not the case. Do you know how this works?

idk, Marcus Mariota seems lightyears ahead of Bortles of 2014...

Brian Hoyer is on pace for 26 TDs and 6 picks.

Maybe that's why i'm not that impressed by Bortles' raw numbers.

Mariota is not "on pace for nearly 40".

As you shouldn't be, the NFL is a pass happy league now and passing numbers are inflated because of it. Look at what McCown has done for the Browns as another example.

The thing is, Bortles throws some of the dumbest int's. Like his 2nd one this game, there was absolutely no need to throw that ball into a sea of jets defenders...on 1st down with the game on the line no less.

Quote:Mariota is not "on pace for nearly 40".

not this year due to injury.

the way he's played this year - if he stays healthy for 16, he'd be on pace for 36 TDs in his rookie year

yep.  that is why I see these numbers as nice, but it's honestly becoming rather average.

Almost every decent QB is putting up "huge" numbers.

Ok. So he's not on pace for nearly 40

yeah, that and the scramble in the red zone

13 TDs in 6 games, over a 16 game season that would be closer to Bortles 34. You're right, I miscalculated for an 18 game season. Regardless, his current pace is better than the pace Bortles is on. Nevermind the fact that Mariota just made his 6th career start while Bortles is well into his 2nd season as a pro.

The first INT was not his fault.  Anyways, the INTs count regardless because there are others that should have been picked, but the pass at the end should have been a throw away.

You were wrong. It's okay.

Just make sure you consider he had most of those TD's against the two worst pass D's in the NFL.
