Keep Gus

Quote:Sean Payton would be interesting. Doug Marrone was his OC for awhile so maybe Payton could keep Marrone and some of the offensive staff to keep some continuity for Blake. I would love to see Khan go big, open up the checkbook, and give Sean a contract he couldn't refuse to come here.
As awful as the offensive line has been, I don't quite see why anyone would advocate keeping Marrone at this point. The individual pieces, aside from Beadles, aren't terrible, but together they have Blake running for his life at least a couple of times per drive.

Yeah...Marrone can hit the bricks with the rest of them.

Quote:Daddy soft. You should join him. Gus will be here next year.

For the sake of this team, I sure hope you are wrong.  Gus is awful as a head coach.  Historically inept even.

The O-line has improved. However it took a big hit when Linder went down.

--I'm not saying keep Marronne, or don't keep him.... I'm just saying, there was noticeable improvement in the lines pass pro and run blocking as the year went on.

Then we started shifting guys for little injuries and lost Linder to IR.

If coaching staff changes are made.... I seriously doubt anyone is kept. Just doesn't seem like it happens that often where the HC is ousted and the OC stays and keeps some guys.

Why get rid of the receivers coach? Or the QB coach that has helped Bortles this year?

So that's two out of how many?  The only one that I'd really say is a must is Jerry Sullivan.  I wouldn't be against Hackett coming back as QB coach.

The rest can go, without question.  What is that, 2 out of 25 some coaches that are worth keeping?

Those were the first two off the top of my head. I think there are a lot of coaches on staff (especially assistant position coaches) that we, as fans, have no idea about or how they are as coaches.

I'd agree.  I was going with the main ones.  The ones we can get an idea about.

Just about anyone coaching the OL, defense, and special teams can go in my opinion.  There might be a few guys down the totem pole worth keeping but the main guys should be gone.

Definitely agree on DC and special teams coordinator. I thought after last year's poor performance that the ST coordinator should have been replaced in this past offseason.

I assumed it's fire them all ain't it? I'm sure that every one of them has muffed a punt, threw a pick, dropped some balls, gave up some sacks and had busted coverage, missed tackles, jumped off sides, gotten injured, not thrown any clipboards or scolded their players in public in a harsh manner. and all kinds of on the field miscues.

Nope. Keep them. They're doing so well. You can tell by the product in the field.

Once the players that are on the field you speak of quit making bonehead mistakes that have zero to do with coaching and more with their own mental errors the product will be much better.

Really we just need a pass rush. No one plays mistake free football besides maybe the Pats.

Quote:OK...  But could it be argued that Harbaugh had a hand in that as well?  Just saying, I'm not high on Roman...  He was supposed to get a HC gig like 3 year ago, he was one of the hotter commodities, but for some reason nobody pulled the trigger on him.  It just gives me pause is all...
If he wasn't busy going to the superb owl, he probably would have gotten a head-coaching gig...  That said, I'm not sure I'm a big "Roman for HC" guy either.

Agree, but the youth is evident on this team and experience will help them immensely. I'm talking experience in both the Jags systems and the system of the NFL. I believe Gus has this team ready to break out and once the experience catches up to the talent They will be a force.

Really the only must-keep on that list for me is Sullivan. I'd like to see Hackett remain in some capacity, and wouldn't complain too loudly if Olson or Walker were retained as well. Otherwise, there's really no one on the current staff that has really excelled in their job. Maybe, maybe Wash, if we exclude this year and focus on his work in 2013-2014.
