Details on new practice facility, and other stadium upgrades

Quote:Ever been to the Saint Augustine Amp? I bet they would like to fight this. Agree completely. The current venue (Metro Park) on the St Johns across from the stadium is beyond run down. It was outdated 10 years ago.

I can't believe what I'm reading here. Ron Littlepage supports this proposal, and his logic is right in line with what I've been thinking.
He sees the benefit to the city as overriding anything else, and as he points out, this is where the money is required to be spent by state law. It's not taking away from any essential services. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
Quote:Agree completely. It was just in the news the other day that the stage cover at Metro Park has deteriorated to the point where they've had to basically close the stage until they can figure out how to fix it. This new amphitheater may relegate that to being incorporated into the Shipyard project for redevelopment. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

From what I have seen, those supporting this would also probably support a bordello being included in the project. It would certainly generate money and wouldn't cost the city a thing...
(sarcasm font engaged) Quote:From what I have seen, those opposed do not truly understand the funding source. They don't. If you look at the comments sections where this is discussed, or even in this very thread, there are those who somehow think this impacts police, libraries, fire fighters, and schools. Under state law, bed taxes can't be used for the general fund stuff, but you'll never get that through to them. Never argue with idiots. I loved the Weavers, but I didn't realize an NFL owner could do all of these things.Wayne Weaver will Forever Be Entrinched, BUT Shad Khan is taking it to another level. An level that All NFL owners will marvel at. I feel that as he has visited other NFL venues, his vision of Jacksonville continues to manifest. All that's needed to make his vision(s) come to fruition is City Council... Please Jacksonville, get on the Khan Bus... NH3...

I sincerely agree that this taxing revenue can and will enhance our stadium along w/the Ship Yard property... Mr. Khan and Lamping knows what they're proposing... NH3...

Respect the game. Play with a sense of urgency.
1.) Take care of the ball. Win the turnover battle. 2.) It's all about 3rd down. Win on 3rd down to win the game. 3.) Playmakers make plays. The only reason that you put your uniform on is to make plays. In order to EARN your paycheck, you must make plays. Learn from the great collapse of 2023. This will be better like a bday gift if they approve this Dec. 8th. Let's see what happens.

This is pretty cool...

Ticket prices are going to increase with this deal, but it's very much worth it.
Next step is possibly luring in developers to place good accommodations in the area as well as provide some kind of night life or entertainment in the area other than the sports complex and amphitheater. While there are a couple of nice hotels nearby, none are really in walking distance and there really isn't much to do around them. There are 10 kinds of people in this world. Quote:Ticket prices are going to increase with this deal, but it's very much worth it. Yea, the Intuition Ale brewery going in next to the stadium is going to be a big hit before and after any event. Did I read that Bold Bean was going in near there too, or am I imagining that? Khan might start developing the Riverfront from a different direction

Concert before each home game.
Hmmm....mixed feelings about it. On the one hand, it seems like a great idea for Jacksonville, especially if these are reasonably known artists. If the ones who would book the St. Aug Amphitheater (i.e. Michael McDonald) would book this facility before Jaguars games, it would be a great atmosphere...almost like a mini Super Bowl every Sunday. 25 concerts a year would provide entertainment options. On the other hand, it seems gimmicky to a degree. I'd like the Jaguars to be team enough to attract fans down to the stadium without the extra stuff. But when this team starts winning, the stadium experience will be complete. And completely INSANE! Nevertheless, despite my apprehensions, I think it would be an overall positive for Jacksonville, just like everything else Khan has proposed. The way I see it...keep him happy, keep the team here. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!
