What do you see in TJ Yeldon

He didn't show any Sproles-like anything, the guy sucks.  He has no wiggle, no moves, drops instantly on contact.  He's not a good football player.  He got way too hyped on this board because he was fast.  That's all he has is straight line speed. He's not a good player.

Quote:Then make him 240. I ain't seen him run over anyone yet and I doubt he could get slower with a bigger chest.. I want to see him hurt some people.
Yeldon is at the weight that he and the coaching staff think is best for him. Looking at the guy, he doesn't have a ton of weight to drop, and adding would only slow him down.

Or do you mean this year because Cory is on IR?
Well, for one, there is no guy named "Cory Grant" on the team, so that's a problem.

Two, Grant is awful. That's also a problem.

He dances a lot... usually do to the multiple defenders getting off their blocks around the time he gets to the line of scrimmage.

Look at the other backs (who don't/can't) dance on the team and their YPC. You might notice a trend.

You guys are crazy. Grant had some explosive runs where nobody could touch him. He'll be a welcome addition to next year's roster.

And it's a good thing nobody could touch him, because if they could, he'd have fumbled.

Ummm, are you sure you know who Grant is?  He's the one with 6 carries for 2 yards (0.3 YPC) and a game blowing fumble.

When this board gets high on a a player, it takes a LONG time for most of them to come down. He seems average to me, which isn't a bad thing if Bortles can continue to carry the offense.

Quote:The Jaguars offense has clearly identified itself as a downfield passing attack where the running game is a bit of an afterthought with a rather porous run blocking OL. With that said, Yeldon appears to be doing his job when called upon helping to keep drives alive. One could only imagine how good he might be if the offense featured true road graders up front or stressed a run first philosophy, but as it stands, TJ is averaging 4.0 ypc this season and is nearly on pace for a 1000-yard season. While he only has two 100-yard games to date, you often see him bouncing outside and slicing through the smallest gaps to pick up something like 8 yards.

All of this said, I feel like the jury is still out. He's not quite as explosive as Fred Taylor and not quite the brawler that MJD was, but he's somewhat of a blend of the two. Do you feel he's a franchise caliber feature RB or should we still be looking for that guy? What are you thoughts on our second round pick now that he's halfway through his rookie season?
A good back, solid but not elite

A between the tackles runner, shifty with excellent vision. Decent power but looks much slimmer than his weight would indicate

Lacks breakaway speed and explosiveness. IMO a bit of a reach for a high #2 pick

A good back for the Jags for years but I don't see a game changer

He can get what the D gives and maybe a little more.  If the O Line can open up running lanes (which they haven't done lately) then we can have a respectable running game.

IMO the fact that you brought up the point this year that we have embraced the down the field passing offense this year had made me happy. We have tried to be a run heavy offense since MJD was the rushing leader and that was the last time it worked and we still went 5-11. If our offense evolves into one like the Steelers thee run game will start to show up and Yeldon will shine. He already is an every down back so we just need to be a bit more patient.

Grant didn't even appear very fast aside from one or two runs.
