Impressions From The Titans Game
|
The pass int calls were horrendous on colvin, they gave the titans their only drive.

Quote:PFF grades, for those interested: http://imgur.com/a/fo4Jz Jalen Ramsey should give the jags defense a nice spark next year. I actually have been thinking how good they could look with Ramsey and a healthy fowler.

Quote:and Mariota didn't? How about that ball that was tipped straight into the air and right into Walkers hands?Titans were lucky a Jaguars player didn't intercept that. Quote:Titans were lucky a Jaguars player didn't intercept that.Yea. And your analysis was that we got lucky? How's that? What was "lucky" about that game? It wasn't pretty but I didn't see a lot of "luck" out there either.
Quote:Yea. And your analysis was that we got lucky?Ok, I just want to see the Jaguars win a game convincingly. Every game we've won has gone to like the final minute, final play. Quote:Why QBR is garbage: There was an article of pft I believe that discussed QBR and how the highest rated QBR game was some random performance by Charlie Batch where he threw for 180 yards, 2 Tds and 2 ints. Lol. Quote:Ok, I just want to see the Jaguars win a game convincingly. Every game we've won has gone to like the final minute, final play. Do me a favor and watch other games this weekend. Watching the Red Zone channel blows up the excitement of game day. Honestly overall the play across the NFL is down and sloppy. Play quality overall has been going down year over year since the last CBA's practice restrictions. NFL games are traditionally close and decided in the 4th Quarter. Your not going to get many convincing wins. Honestly the best thing to happen to a young team is to gut out wins. Easy wins do nothing to promote the team's grit and ability to pull it out.

But we have been getting the W and that's all that matters. There was no luck involved last night. In fact the Titans seemed to the best lucky ones. Mariotas tipped pass right to Walker. Some terrible officiating calls. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:Yea. And your analysis was that we got lucky? Yeah, we had way more bad luck than good in this game
IT WAS ALWAYS THE JAGS
Quote:Yeah, we had way more bad luck than good in this game And we overcame some poor coaching decisions. I will hat tip Gus for the 2 timeout calls he made to settle the secondary down and get them in the right positions.

Quote:Bortles did not play really really well. He wasn't terrible but 2 turnovers is not well. Left the pocket too soon at times and walking into sacks. He has to cut down on his interceptions the rest of the way. Whoa! You're a hater!!!! Everybody pounce!!!
my biggest 4 takeaways from this game:
-Cyprien is showing up. He's definitely improving, taking better angles, wrapping up a little more, crashing decisively to make some solid stops. I think now that he's settling in and doing his job his play is improving in the past he's always tryed to do too much and his performance suffered IMO. glad to see him turn in a good performance (granted he missed a few plays that he couldve made but he's young so ill take the good with the bad) -Bortles/Olson should remove the short Out-Route from the playbook entirely. For whatever reason Blake can't seem to hit it consistently, on the interception (granted he stepped up bc he was under fire) i have no issue with the decision it just seems like his outbreaking routes lack touch and get undercut (is this why we dont run fades in the endzone?) last year against miami he got pick-6'd that was the difference in the game, ditto with Josh Norman housing it for the game winning score in week 1, and then again the same route gets had against the titans. -Goalline playcalling, if we're gonna run it 3/4 straight times, ... why not let Yeldon get those carries? granted Denard played well but why run him 3 straight times if he's more of a scat/COP/3rd down back? it didnt work in london with Toby, didn't work with Denard... why not give the ball to your most talented overall runner in Yeldon? further as far as redzone playcalling we're a team with nice pass catchers, let Robinson use his size and sky someone on a fade, let Julius work the middle and outmuscle someone going to the post. and when healthy Hurns just finds ways to get open for Blake, use your talent! -Spread em and Shred em!!! Lastly, the Titans top 2 CB's were out. their Nickel and Dime guys forced into prominent roles aren't stellar. In addition to Julius Thomas, we just got Greene Back, Lee was healthy, Walters has emerged as a reliable option out of the Slot, and the "Alliens" (because their play is "out of this world" Allens/Aliens get it :teehee ![]()
Championship Formula:
1) Draft Trevor Lawrence! 2) Play good physical Defense! 3) Keep 91% of the roster healthy! 4) ??? 5) Blank #2 6) CHAMPIONSHIP!!! We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Quote: There isnt one player on the offensive line that is irreplaceable. They are all solid and have moments where they get some push or create a pocket, but it isnt consistent. And it isnt dominant. Oehser mentioned in one of his recent Ozone's how the line seems to be pretty set and dont expect much change next year(aside from a healthy Linder replacing Beadles). And while I can see the argument because most are young, I dont see why its a given there wont be any changes. If you are sitting there in the 2nd or 3rd round and a high quality olineman drops, I can easily see how you'd make that pick. The offense is set at QB, at WR, at RB, maybe at TE, ... but the Oline is the weak link. There isnt a dominant top level talent anywhere on this roster at Oline except for possibly a healthy Linder (and hopefully he comes back 100%... torn labrum's are spotty). ________________________________________________ Scouting well is all that matters. Draft philosophy is all fluff.

Quote: We need a more physical running game. While Wiz's experience and added bulk vis-a-vis Bowanko has helped this team, I wonder if that is a position we can upgrade. I think it's a position that definitely can be upgraded if the opportunity presents itself. Wiz has been solid but IMO does not get nearly enough push inside and has been too often beat by blitzing backers and stunting lineman. I would hope that if the chance to draft or sign an upgrade to the C position happens, Caldwell would do it.
