Bummer
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."
Oh sure you can drink and drive or do ILLEGAL drugs and get a game or two but take an otc supplement and we're gonna suspend you for a calendar year. The rest of the year I absolutely agree with but 6 games next year, too? That's not how you teach a kid a lesson. If the university had lied or he had lied I could understand but they were all forthcoming and owned up to it. I'm truly disgusted by the NCAA

I'm truly disgusted by the NCAAI honestly don't think any logical person wants the NCAA to monitor and get involved in ALL player activities. Their job is not to get involved in all non-competition issues. I don't think anyone would want the NCAA to get involved either. Universities are more equipped to mete out punishment, the NCAA doesn't have the manpower to oversee every aspects of student-athletes, and so on. A DUI does not fall under the scope of college football's regulator. Will Grier cheated; his cheating affected the equity of the game; and cheating falls under the NCAA's authority. The two are not even closely comparable.

Institutions of higher learning are here to help mold young adults. Part of that process is when these young adults screw up, intentionally or not. The punishment doesn't fit the crime when you compare it to the big picture of life and trying to teach these folks a lesson. It doesn't send the right message at all when you have kids go unpunished while at school for certain infractions (weed, gun crimes, domestic violence, etc., etc.) but sit for 365 for taking an OTC supplement, owning up to it before, and then appealing. The NCAA has always been full of double standards. I was holding out hope that there'd be some sort of change to the punishment, but I can't say I am surprised the way it went.

I didn't say that he didn't cheat, I didn't say that it didnt affect the quality of the game. He admitted to taking the supplement,a suspension is absolutely necessary. I was referring to the length of the suspension.

I was referring to the length of the suspension. I mean it would be different if the NCAA punished someone taking an OTC more severely than someone taking illegal drugs; however, the NCAA does not discriminate based on the substance. If you fail a NCAA test for marijuana, you get suspended for a year. Smoke weed, take steroids, take a banned OTC it doesn't matter, you get suspended for a year. Universities are another subject. The problem is that universities are heavily invested in its student-athletes; therefore, they are less likely to hand out punishments that meet the crime.

That's not true about the weed. Under Chump, Florida had a number of guys fail NCAA tests. Purifoy and Roberson being the main culprits. They failed at least 2 tests each. The most they ever got was a one game suspension.

Instead of taking an over the counter supplement to get stronger, he should have used his girlfriend as a punching bag. That way he could get ripped just like a boxer but only suffer a one or two game suspension since beating women doesnt really matter.

NFL players are only suspended four games after their second PED offense. Why can't the NCAA suspend players four games for the first offense, then the remainder of the season for the second? Hypothetically, a player can decide to quit school for the NFL because one month is a lot less time out of football than one year. Punishment should not be more severe in college than the NFL in this case.
Quote:What is with all this silliness from the gator fans? Who said only Gators fans are criticizing the NCAA over this? Anybody who watches a lot of college football knows 365 days for a PED is stupid. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

Though, we shouldn't let this opportunity slip past us to make a mockery of domestic abuse. Quote:What is with all this silliness from the gator fans? Im not a gator fan. But I am a fan of pointing out how ridiculous the NCAA is when handing out punishments. ________________________________________________ Scouting well is all that matters. I can agree to a point, but when Ohio State's qb is busted for dui, aka the cop is there is anything he can do because he is their qb, and only gets one game, you're setting yourself up for embarrassment. The NCAA is picking and choosing when schools can self regulate ands they are allowing the guys whose jobs depends on winning to make those decisions. Do you really think those guys are going to make the right choices? Urban Meyer never has.

Your starting qb was accused of rape and then yelled fhritp the following football season in the student union. Let's not try to call out entire fan bases when yours is no better. Quote:*Wrongfully accused. Lol....he was accused of rape. What I said was factually correct. To this day, he was still ACCUSED of rape. You prong wrongfully accused changes nothing. Him being stupid enough to do that in the student union does show his immaturity and stupidity. It was great when you said to kick him out off school when that happened. ....
Quote:Your starting qb was accused of rape and then yelled fhritp the following football season in the student union. I don't advocate rape or the abuse of women. Do you? |
