Doomsday Scenario

#1
(This post was last modified: 11-24-2013, 07:48 PM by Haterade.)

We're not in position to draft Teddy first overall. What do we do? Clowney, Barr, Matthews, Manziel, Mariota? I don't think I can stand another season of this anemic passrush or Ghenne.

I wish Manziel wasn't such a douche bag...it's hard to get excited about him because I really can't stand the guy. Sad

If not teddy I would want Clowney, then Barr, then Carr.

I think Carr has a chance to be a decent QB but idk I would rather take an elite LEO.

Mariota, Clowney, or Barr in that order

Mariota, Barr (like his motor more), Clowney.

I flip flop on Manziel constantly.

You do a full eval on Barr and Clowney and pick the one you feel is the best, then you pick a QB in the 2nd or trade back into the first to get one.

No reason to even draft Matthews

I think the Doomsday scenario is that we draft outside of the Top 5.  In which case I'd hope we'd trade down and grab Derek Carr (even if he does have a bad bloodline)

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

Carr or Bortles for qb any other qb would be stupid

If Mariota comes out, we will be fine selecting him in my opinion at #2 or #3. If he doesn't come out, I'd like to see us take Clowney and then trade back into the 1st round (between 24-28 range) and select Tajh Boyd. I think this is how the QBs would go off the board if Mariota doesn't come out:

Teddy Bridewater, Clemson

Brett Hundley, UCLA

Derek Carr, Fresno State

Johnny Manziel, Texas A&M (idiot for whoever pulls the trigger IMO)

Tajh Boyd, Clemson/Zach Mettenberger, LSU

That's why I personally believe we could get Clowney who can be a game changer on defense and then be able to trade back into the 1st round and get our QB of the future in (who I would hope to be) Boyd. I feel like with the picks we got for Monroe, we can afford to trade one of them. We could trade our 2nd round pick (#33 overall), our 4th round pick, and a 6th round pick and be able to get up in the range Boyd would be in. If that was the case, I'm pretty sure the draft would still look like this as far as the draft picks we'd still have:

1st Round - Jadeveon Clowney DE, South Carolina

1st Round - Tajh Boyd QB, Clemson

3rd Round -

4th Round -

5th Round -

5th Round -

5th Round -

7th Round -

That's still PLENTY of ammunition to rebuild. I'd still prefer Bridgewater, but this would not be a terrible situation.

In this scenario, you have to take either Clowney or Barr, then grab Blake Bortles in round two (if he even declares...)..

I wouldn't mind Bortles, either. He has a ton of potential..

I can't believe people are still on the Mariota train. Guy is garbage and his ship has sailed.

We already had Boyd. We paid him 60 million in 2007. Don't you remember?

Personally, I do agree there are similarities but I do not think their NFL careers will turn out the same. I've liked Boyd for a while. I respect your opinion, though. Who would you like if we miss out on Bridgewater?
