Derek Carr vs Teddy Bridgewater

Quote:Still Teddy comfortably...but I think we'd all be lying if we said we weren't tantalized by Carr's upside. Basically the same argument as Mariota but w/ a different package obviously.

Teddy has the highest upside of any QB in this draft IMO. He can be a top-five, elite quarterback, and I don't see Mariota or Carr having a higher ceiling than that. Does anyone honestly see those two being the best in the league?

Similarly, Ryan Leaf had the best physical tools of anyone in the '98 draft, but he didn't have a higher upside than Manning. Those same pundits who said he had a limited physical ceiling also said he had the chance to one day be the best quarterback in the NFL, so it was one big contradiction.

I dislike the ceiling argument. If you have the skillset, your ceiling is a top qb. The argument should be the probability to reach that ceiling. Rodgers, Brees, Manning, and Brady all operate differently and are top qbs.

I don't see Mariota/Carr becoming the best in the league but, they could. They have the talent to do so.

Exactly. I think we can all agree that Bridgewater is the most likely to end up elite given his accuracy and mental acuity.

what does teddy have that makes you think he has the highest upside in this class?  imo teddy has an edge over carr on footwork and pocket presence but carr has improved this facet of his game tremendously.

Bridgewater is also a more accurate passer and has superior mobility. You just listed some very important things for an NFL quarterback.

Let's pretend that you knew who Derek Carr was before September.

How much does someone have to hate themself to consistently bandwagon on second tier Qbs? Underdog complex?

Kid will bust harder than his awful brother.

superior mobility? i think they are tied on mobility, his footwork will improve, and like i said his pocket has improved dramatically hes only been sacked 8x this season compared to 27 last season. im not saying carr is better than teddy, im saying of all the qb in this class he has the best potential to overtake him or at least be the next qb taken.

actually i knew of derek carr since his hs school years, i have a lot of friends from his area.  how about we discuss football rather than your attempt to be funny.

I will feel bad for the Vikings when they take him.

The kid intrigues me too. Did anybody see his quick kick yesterday. In case you missed it, Fresno was going for it on 4th and 4. Carr was in passing formation and punted it to the 1 inch line. I haven't seen that in a long time. If we get Clowney and Carr is still there......I wouldn't be disappointed if Caldwell picks him.

I have watched plenty of both players and they are not tied on mobility. "His footwork will improve"... why? Because you say so? Carr barely gets sacked because he runs an up-tempo, wide-open spread offense that has 4-5 receivers on the field on every down.

I'm not trying to be funny; you're just incredibly annoying. Within the last month I've seen you advocate for your team to take Clowney and either Mettenberger, Manziel, or Bortles in the second round, and now you've fallen hard for Carr. Who will it be by December?

lol i would rather take carr running the ball than teddy tbh.  um his sack total decreased from last season to this season in the same offense. 19 less sacks so far.

i like clowney in the first and a qb in the 2nd. all those qbs werent thought to be sure fire first round pick before the season and right now they might very will be.  do you just hate me because im not as high on teddy as the majority of the people are?

What the hell is wrong about being open-minded. This is an ongoing process. I look at lots of draft boards and they change all of the time. Their stocks may vary till after the combine. What annoys me are people who are so closed minded that Teddy is the best thing since Manning.
