As crazy as this might sound, there's still a chance that the Jags could make the playoffs

Quote:The Colts currently lead the division at 7-3, but they're being hammered right now by the Cardinals 34-3. If the Colts lose this game, and proceed to lose the rest of their games, and the Jags by some Miracle happen to win the rest of their games including a win over Indy in week 17, than the Jags would win the division. A record of 7-9 would be good enough just to win the division. It's already happened before with the NFC West in 2010.

Furthermore, Tennessee would also have to lose it's remaining games as well. If push comes to shove and the Jags, Titans, and Colts are statistically tied after 17 weeks, than Jacksonville would win the tiebreaker as we would have swept both Tennessee and beaten Indy. The same can be said for the Texans as well, but I think that after losing 9 straight games, they're pretty much dead in the water.

I understand that the odds of all of this occurring are literally astronomical, and the Jags would need some Divine Intervention for all of this to happen, but it's just an interesting thought.

Like your enthusiasm, but we aren't anywhere near the playoffs.

Quote:I don't think it's possible to win a division at 6-10. it might be possible for a division winner to be 7-9, but that team would have to win the tiebreakers against the other 7-9 divisional team.

Actually, it's possible for a team to win a division with a 3-13 record.

They can still win the division.....but with the record we'd get in doing so, the only thing it would really accomplish is generating more insults from the anti-Jags media.

Even if they made the playoffs they (.00000001%) chance anyway, they wouldn't win a game in them, and would then likely miss out on a top player in the draft because they would be drfating toward the middle as opposed to drafting at the top.

IF this scenario came to fruition, that would mean a huge improvement for this team especially in the 2nd half of the season.

That means we should be more optimistic going into next season rather than focusing on the draft.

I.have to agree with TMD strength of schedule is giving us these wins

All this is really showing is we are not as bad as we thought we were before the bye and we can compete with good/ average to bad teams

However before the bye cant be forgotten and that showed serious improvement is still needed to be long term contenders

I don't see it that way, especially if the wins continue to be similar as the wins over the Titan/ Texan's.

All that would be happening would be us sucking less than the sucky opponent, as our schedule is all-time easy over the last 8 games.

We would be under the impression that the team was making strides, and then next year when the schedule got back to normal, we'd continue losing again and wouldn't likely to have been able to gain our franchise QB, and every pick in the draft would be mid rounds, ergo likely lesser players.

So what good would come of making the playoffs in that fashion? Not much.

If we get the top pick this draft, and get the franchise QB, and high picks in every round, then making the playoffs won't be the novelty that it would be by making a faux run to them this year, it will be consistently expected and probably reached for the near future.

I really don't know if we would take a QB with the first pick if we have it.
