Most dishonorable thing I've seen in football in a long, long time.

 

Are you kidding?   These people are playing and coaching for their jobs.   Imagine how the San Diego fans would have felt if they had not challenged because a Jaguar player was hurt on the play.   Imagine how we would have felt if we could have won a game with a challenge but didn't do it "out of respect for an injured player."   That would be the dumbest reason ever for a non-challenge.

I looked at the replay on the video boards, and it looked like an interception to me.   Hurns never caught the ball and it looked like it never hit the ground either.   So, interception.   I was surprised when they ruled it not an interception. 

 

I agree with this, the ball did not hit the ground as he tried to catch it and was rolling around on his stomach. The replay couldn't show if it hit the ground as the defender grabbed it. To me he never possessed the ball but neither did it hit the ground that we could see so it should've been live even if Hurns was unconscious.

Yes it is, we have guys out there flying around at high rates of speed for a human, and crazy strength, this happens in football. It's ridiculous to call a team out for challenging what they thought might be their ball.

 

Someone went so far as to say most dishonorable thing they've seen in football. Really? More atrocious then Haynesworth's foot stomp, Bill Romanowski spitting in players faces, George Atkinson knocking out Lynn Swann with a forearm to the back of the head that was away from the play. The list goes on.

No!  The crew in my section does not cheer an opponent getting knocked out.  We do not cheer for other teams players getting injured.  If that is how goes where you sit then that is truly classless.

We are too politically correct sometimes. Classless is a long stretch. Not challenging something because it was too sensitive? Strange.

San Diego showed 0 class in that challenge.  Hurns goes limp from hitting the ground while San Diego tries to benefit from it with that challenge. 

 

Agreed!  I mean on one hand I understand that the franchise wanted to win, but it wasn't needed.

I was upset when I had heard Challenge Flag with Hurns health still being a question.  You know what bothered me more was I thought the Jaguars would rally behind that and play harder yet it seemed to not make a difference to them.

I think "classless" sports behavior begins with these types of fans; the ones who cheer opponent injuries.

Of course it was classless, I'm shocked many of you don't think it was.


Here's an incident from 'soccer' here in the UK, when there's a foul and the ball doesn't go out of play you have a drop ball where a player from each team can compete for the bowl, what happens (it's not made to happen it's just sportsmanship) is the team who didn't have possession when the player went down goes for the drop ball unchallenged and just kicks it back to the team whom did have possession.


Now recently there was a game when it was 0-0 and this happened, the team in question I believe was one place above the relegation zone and they kicked it back but misjudged where the keeper was and the ball went in resulting in a goal.


Now did any rules say they couldn't score? No. Should the keeper of been in a better position to stop it even though he wasn't suspecting it? Yes.


Now despite this and despite the fact the team was close to being relegated they let the other team kick off walk through them unchallenged and score an open goal out of sportsmanship.


That is how sports should be played.


Benefitting directly from an injury, especially one involving a lifeless player is disgusting, going out of your way to challenge to try and benefit is much worse.
