There's a pretty wide gap there.  When I read the various mock drafts, those who use the "best prospect" rhetoric that the chihuahua does, they usually qualify it by saying in this draft or the 2013 draft.  So, he's not really being compared to Luck or Manning.  He's being compared to Geno Smith and E.J. Manuel.  He's better than either of these guys, but that still doesn't make him any more of a guaranteed sure thing.  

 

Bridgewater may very well wind up being the best QB prospect in this draft, but let's not try to oversell him as being an absolute certainty to be a franchise QB, especially right out of the box. 

 

Regardless, all of the whining by one particular poster ignores the fact that the Jaguars STILL have the first pick in the draft at this point.  One win hasn't changed that, and we still have to face Houston again in less than 2 weeks.  If we lose out on the first pick, oh well!  We're missing out on the best QB prospect since Geno Smith and EJ Manuel.  There will be other options.

Its not so much bashing him, as many on here have stated many times! I have said 50 times, I will be 100% behind him if he comes here. He is a great qb, its you and your fellow tankers who come on and trash anyone who has not dedicated a church to the guy. Let the freakin season play itself out!!! That is the issue here.

 

They don't get it. You either worship a college kid playing mid level competetion, and lay down your season for him, or you are against him in their mind.

 TB can be a bust. Or an elite NFL QB.. We dont know. TMD claims he is a "CANT MISS" Franchise QB.

He doesn't know that. Simple Stats show he is probably wrong. Any player can be a bust. Even TB.

If he is there, we draft him with open arms, if not, draft some other "franchise QB" that may or may not work out.

Then who does it apply to?  Most of us who don't subscribe to the notion that the team should tank for any player are making the same case repeatedly, yet we're bashed endlessly for not seeing the bigger picture.  That's arguably one of the dumbest things anyone could say on this board. 

 

It's funny because someone else pointed out that most of the tankers don't necessarily have a vested interest in the team. Many are fans who aren't in Jacksonville, and don't have any real skin in the game beyond buying clothes and hats.  As fans who do have a vested interest in the team, whether it's because we own tickets or any other reason, want to see this team win every time it takes the field.  We understand the tanker logic, we just don't subscribe to quitting because we're paying to watch this team play.  It's the people who aren't who are the loudest complainers on here.  One in particular has NEVER seen this team play a home game in person (but he's heard the game day experience is terrible from someone who went to a game 1o years ago, so he's an expert.). 

 

Those of us who prefer to see the team trying to win are regularly chastised for not being savvy fans.  Tankers are far more high minded because they embrace losing, then turn around and accuse us of being the ones who prefer losing.  It's silly.  If a team takes the field with the intention of losing, they'll lose fans in droves.  Clearly, this team has NOT quit, and they continue to try to win games, and I for one am happy to see this.  The queen of the tankers loves to play both sides of this argument. When they lose, he whines about how lousy the coach is and how we should have spent the farm getting a coach who was never going to come here.  When they win, he can't complain about the coaching, so he focuses on how it's hurting our draft position.  This is who the tankers are sidling up with.  In the end, a year from now, no matter what happens, the queen will claim he had the right approach even though he takes every side in an argument.

Saying that Bridgewater has Manning-like command of the offense/ the QB position is different that claiming that Bridgewater is going to break every QB passing record in the book, like Manning is doing. I think it will be a long time, if ever, before someone approaches the numbers Manning will retire with.

Pretty much this. I think there are attributes that Bridgewater has that are very similar to Luck/ Manning, but it doesn't mean I am putting Teddy as equals, because I am not. I've said this and they know it, I've said on several occasions that overall I'd put Bridgewater below those guys, but still ahead of all the rest drafted after Manning other than Luck. 

 

Didn't he also once say Gabbert/Blackmon was going to be the next Aikman/Irvin?

 

I made a post talking about the possibility of the QB/ WR combo potentially evolving into that type of famous pairing if Blaine would develop and remain a long term starter - however, it was also said with the idea of Blackmon being the lynchpin. Blackmon could make any long term QB a name (provided he gets his demons under control)

I have heard people say that they weren't too impressed with the stadium when they were there during the superbowl. Perhaps they were comparing it to what they were used to , i.e. Lincoln Field in Philly, but I'm just repeating what they told me. They said the concourses were too narrow, thus making it difficult to for people to get around, and they said the bathrooms had issues with the plumbing or something, and said the sight lines weren't as good as other stadiums they have been in.

If sight lines means the view from the seats, then those people were dead [BAD WORD REMOVED] wrong. I've sat in practically every section in our stadium, and there is honestly not a bad seat in the house.

It is like actually believing someone like Gary Kubiak or Jim Caldwell would intentionally lose games even though they will lose their job. And that an NFL owner would offer some financial gain in form of a severance payment for losing games. These guys eat, sleep and breathe football. Most have been doing so since they were teenagers. The game is so much bigger than a few draft spots. This is their livelihood.

I'm not concerned about the level of competition.  Good players are found where they're found.  Bridgewater is a promising prospect.  He may very well be the best QB in the upcoming draft.  We'll see. 

 

Now, are you a proponent of tanking to get him, or would you prefer to see your team trying to be competitive?  I think I know where you stand, but maybe I'm wrong.
