Curious if they asked Metallica to do it since it is their hometown.

Good news for Joe Satriani. He gets paid when Coldplay plays.

I've been saying for years; they should just get AC/DC for the halftime show. Of course that'll never happen because the halftime show isn't for football fans.

I've got a short list of bands that would put on an awesome halftime show:

Foo Fighters

AC/DC

Green Day

Muse

But, yeah, like you said, anyone who views Katy Perry, Beyonce Knowles and Bruno Mars (still don't know who he is) as a great selection for a Super Bowl halftime show isn't going to give any of those bands, aside from maybe Muse, a second thought.

Aerosmith! Would love to see them on a haltime at a super bowl! Katy perry was only watchable for the outfits, Other than that I muted it.

Dear God, we don't need anymore has-been bands like Aerosmith or The Who or the Stones up there.

Muse would be [BLEEP] great as a halftime show.

My type of music is not something they would have on a halftime show like bring me the horizon or of mice and men. I wouldn't mind a "papa roach" or "pop evil", even "rise against" would be a good one. I was just throwing out things I can listen to and would enjoy.

They may have been has beens but they definitely made a lasting impression on the music world.

The used or All-American rejects too.

Snoozefest. Won't be watching this year.
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

Bon Jovi would be great. Aerosmith as well.

Youre right. Its for everyone else who only watches football once a year. I hate the half time shows. I always do something else.

You guys are nuts. Coldplay is a better draw than Katy Perry, Bruno, or whatever pop star they could pull.

Cold play is horrible.

Agree to disagree, my friend. But it's all subjective, I suppose.

Coldplay is what happens when U2, Radiohead and Oasis walk into a bar then wake up in the morning not remembering anything but already regretting what they'd done.

One of Coldplay's most famous riffs was...erhm..."borrowed" from Satriani.

When I heard "Coldplay" on CBS, I mentally changed the name to Gold Play because of the number 50. They should change their name to Gold Play for just that day.

CBS only announced the headliner act. What about the rest of the halftime show?
