Why is Jason Myers still here? How inept is this franchise?

Quote:When did you become JDub? Just because a guy is retired doesn't mean you can't sign him. It's very rare for a player to come out of retirement and play again. Chances are they can't kick anywhere near like they used to. I'd rather have Myers than trying to call one of these guys up and having him suddenly start kicking FGs in the NFL after having been out for so long. They wouldn't even have time practice.

Quote:6 extra points?! What an inept franchise. Khan could give a crap about winning with Myers and Gus here. He should be running a circus, not an NFL franchise. Meyers is a more accurate FG kicker than Scobee statistically (look it up). As far as extra points, who knows how Scobee would have done? He certainly sucked [BLEEP] in Pittsburgh.

Quote:I find it hard to believe there are no better kickers out there. When did we encounter a kicker shortage?? Pittsburgh went through like 10 kickers, gave up a 6th round pick, cut that kicker, and picked one up off the street who is 1000 times better than Myers. Don't tell me better options aren't out there. This ![]() Quote:I think people are more upset that Myers is missing the easy ones far too often. Scobee missed more often but they want him back. Go figure.

Let's look at little deeper at where these guys...
Morton Anderson - retired, 55 years old, last kicked in 2007, He currently trains kickers. You could sign up for a two-day camp (max of 2 kickers at a time) where he'll train you up for a mere $3,000. Maybe Myers should check this out. Gary Andersen - retired,56 years old, last kicked in 2004 when he went 77.3%, he's currently doing rounds as a darts champion. John Carney - retired, 51 years old, last kicked in 2 games in 2010 as the oldest kicker ever at 46. He holds an annual kicking camp at a high school where he coaches kickers. Nick Lowery - retired, 59 years old, last kicked in 1996 when he went 70.8% on FGs. He's currently a mentor in his local community. Jan Stenerud - retired, 73 years old, last kicked in 1985 when he went 57.7% on FGs. Currently works with a Kansas City firm helping to design stadiums and sports arenas. Mark Moseley - retired, 67 years old, last kicked in 1986, currently the Director of Franchise Development for Five Guys. Olindo Mare - retired, 42 years old, last kicked in 3 games in 2012, hasn't topped 79% or had a FG longer than 45 yards since 2010. Neil Rackers - retired, 39 years old, hasn't kicked since 2011, currently a radio broadcaster for the Rams and also coaches LBs and Ks at a high school. None of thee names make any sense whatsoever except maybe Neil Rackers. In 2011 he nailed a 54 yarder, and in 2010 he went 90 percent and nailed a 57-yarder. In 2012 he attended the Redskins training camp but was released during their final roster cut downs. In 2013 it was announced that he retired.

Quote:I think people are more upset that Myers is missing the easy ones far too often... The "easy ones" are defined as 30 yard attempts as opposed to 18 yarders back in the day. LOL

Quote:So why didn't Mike Hollis stay in Jacksonville? I actually got the chance to ask him that very question back in 2007-ish. He said he thought the grass would be greener with a different team and found out that wasn't the case. Said he wished he had stayed in Jacksonville. Quote:The "easy ones" are defined as 30 yard attempts as opposed to 18 yarders back in the day. LOL And compared to 31 other kickers he's the worst at it.

Said he wished he had stayed in Jacksonville. Once he got on Coughlin's naughty list he didn't have a say in whether he could stay or not. That decision was already made for him.
