Playoff scenarios
|
Quote:Exactly. Cincinnati can lose tomorrow, but still clinch a playoff spot if Jets or Chiefs lose. The Chiefs should win. They already blew out the Chargers this season. The Jets should also win, We all now how bad the Titans are. So chances are the Bengals need to win to clinch a playoff berth this week. Of course, that is doable because they already beat the Steelers. I don't see Pittsburgh beating Denver. Tomorrow's game at Cincy is a tossup. Pittsburgh MUST win it no matter what else happens. After reading the Week 14 clinching scenarios again, I figured out I need to root for the Bengals because it is very unlikely San Diego wins at Kansas City. Of course a Chiefs loss would be even better. I just don't see it happening.
Chances are good the Cardinals have to wait another week to clinch their division title because the Seahawks play in Baltimore. The Panthers and Patriots should have no problem. Quote:I don't see Pittsburgh beating Denver. Tomorrow's game at Cincy is a tossup. Pittsburgh MUST win it no matter what else happens. The Steelers vs Broncos game is in Pittsburgh. I think the Broncos are going to have a very difficult time going there and getting a win. I think the Steelers will beat Denver, especially if Pitt loses tomorrow and absolutely HAS to beat the Broncos to stay alive. I think Pitt wins that one.

It is possible, but Denver has not struggled to win on the road this season and recently beat New England. The Broncos also will have something to play for: either the division title (likely) or a first round bye. Even the Patriots have come back down to 3arth a little, losing 2 in a row with one being to the Eagles. Depending on what happens this week, I'll probably pick the Steelers next week. If it was in Denver, I'd pick the Broncos. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! It was a very, very tight game that came down to the end.

It shows you why they say Any Given Sunday. Quote:That was nuts. Of course so was New England losing to Philadelphia at home. It shows you why they say Any Given Sunday.Yup. Any given Sunday, that's for sure.
Realistically, is it safe to assume the Steelers are out of it if they lose at Cincinnati? I certainly don't see the Chiefs or Jets losing today.

Cincy beats Pittsburgh. I'm not buying the Steelers hype either. They won't be able to stop Cincy.
Quote:Cincy beats Pittsburgh. I'm not buying the Steelers hype either. They won't be able to stop Cincy. how is it hype when they won 2 games with back up QBs? they can lose tomorrow and still have plenty of room to make playoffs. you guys need to spend more time on the playoff machine. Its not that hard for them to get in
Steelers still face:
@ Bengals vs Broncos @ Browns @ Ravens I could see them going 3-1 in those last four, making them a 10-6 Overall record.

Week 14 update:
As expected, Baltimore did not help Arizona. The Cardinals have to wait until next week to clinch the NFC West title. Also as expected Carolina clinched a first round bye in the NFC playoffs. Unfortunately, there was a surprise in Denver, where the Broncos lost to Oakland. No playoff berth for them yet. The Bengals also will have to wait another week to clinch a playoff berth after losing to Pittsburgh - and do it without injured Andy Dalton.
I'm not all that surprised by Oakland beating Denver.
5 sacks on the day from Mack, including a safety.
Quote:I'm not all that surprised by Oakland beating Denver. The game was in Denver. I was not expecting a blowout win, but thought there was very little chance of an upset. Denver's offense is too good to only score 12 points. Quote:The game was in Denver. I was not expecting a blowout win, but thought there was very little chance of an upset. Quote:Week 14 update: I just got back from that game in Cincy. Dalton and Eifert both out of the game injured after the first drive (they drove the ball all the way down the field to the Steelers 5 yard line, and then "poof" it was over). The life/energy completely left that stadium. No way on earth AJ McCarron was going to beat Pittsburgh in his first ever NFL action in a big game. And of course, only down 16-7, McCarron promptly throws a horrible pick-6 which pretty much sealed it. Then later in the game when the Bengals still had a slight chance, he promptly throws another horrible INT that was basically another pick-6 (returned to the 5 yd line). Bengals are in big trouble if Dalton and Eifert are both out this season. McCarron is not even close to being ready. Flip side: If the Steelers beat the Broncos next week, Pitt will be primed and ready for a playoff run, I'm convinced.

The life/energy completely left that stadium. Tyler Eifert probably is not done for the year. Somehow Cincy will go to the playoffs. Andy Dalton obviously will be if he can't live without a cast on his right hand. The Steelers got no help from the Chargers and Titans, which made their win today a lot more important. Quote:38-0 I hope the Falcons play that bad in Jacksonville. That score gave me more confidence the Jaguars can win next week. Congratulations to your Panthers for clinching a first round bye at home. |
