Is Gus Bradley able to redeem himself this year?
|
I don't see how we don't pull out at least one more win (be atl I want to see a win live for once). I mean Atl is sunk, Saints are always dangerous with Brees, but they just aren't that good this year. And I am not a believer in the tinhorns. I doubt we win all three, but I would be surprised at this point if we lost them all. All that said, Gus will definately be around another year. This win sealed it. I mean the team played how it was supposed to play in all phases and crushed an inferior opponent. Our offense is historic. You don't throw that away. Gus is getting the next year and I am happy for him for that. It would have been easy to get down and lose his positivity with all the losing we did/do, and he didn't. I can respect that for sure.
Yes, it's improvement, but it's Blaine Gabbert 2012 level improvement. - Pirkster The Home Hypnotist! Media on the Brain Link! Quote:Peyton must store oxygen in that forehead of his. If Gus can get this team to win the remaining games, yes.
If this was a fluke game and we go back to being terrible next week, no.
No, he needs to go.

Quote:No, he needs to go.^This... I really think the talent on this team is beginning to show and it ultimately may buy Bradley another year. I hope I'm wrong but if so I believe we'll look back and admit that he was never the caliber coach to lead a team to the Super Bowl. It actually amuses me that the apologist blame individual players for the losses (and not Bradley) and now they are wanting to give Bradley credit when individual players make plays to win. Quote:^This...What is really amusing is that someone who only blames the coach for the losses and credits only the players for the wins would be hypocritical enough to point this out. I've been against Bradley all season. But if keeps up the smart plans. Maybe. I like him as a person. So hopefully.

Quote:I thought about posting this this morning but I was busy tailgating at the stadium. This question goes out mostly to those who were done with Gus at some point this season. Can he redeem himself in your eyes if he wins out or wins 2 of the next 3? Keep in mind according to the NFL that Raven game which was a win shouldve been a loss, thus Gus only really has 4 wins this year.... just saying... Either way I think if he can find a way to get the team to win out the rest of their games regardless of any playoff or at least get the Defense stout especially against the pass.. that would change people's minds.. the problem is many dont see any change to the Defense.. i mean sure Branch had that fumble recovery thanks to pressure from Aaron Colvin on the other side made another good play... but the lack of pass rush combined with really weak DBs at PD & INTs is why most teams can destroy the Jaguars with the pass.... keep in mind this was a team with the starting QB on the bench, the backup playing injured.. and the 3rd string came in... If the Jaguars can stop the Saints to less than 300 yards passing .. to me that would be a small goal to show the HC is capable.. Quote:Keep in mind according to the NFL that Raven game which was a win shouldve been a loss, thus Gus only really has 4 wins this year.... just saying...Branch had that rush and strip fumble TD all on his own. Don't even try and give Colvin credit on Branch's strip TD, because that was a completely different play that Colvin had an impact on a Branch credited sack. Branch hasn't played that great this year, but he absolutely made his own play with the strip fumble TD. No credit goes to anybody, but Branch alone on that play. Quote:Keep in mind according to the NFL that Raven game which was a win shouldve been a loss, thus Gus only really has 4 wins this year.... just saying... That goes both ways. If Myers hits just one of those two game winning FGs, we would not have lost to the Colts earlier in the season. And if we had not had that bad snap from center against the Titans, we would have won that one, too. We've had lucky wins and unlucky losses. But for a play here and a play there, we could be anywhere from 1-12 to 12-1. I think you have to look at the big picture: is this team getting better? And the answer to that is, in some phases of the game, an emphatic yes. As long as you have a very young team that is making major strides, it makes no sense to fire the head coach. Win one more game out of these last 3, and I'll be for keeping him for next season. Babich finally came up with a good game plan against the Colts.

Anyone who thinks Bradley is going anywhere is crazy. He will be back next year unfortunately.

I mean, you blitz when you don't get pressure with 4. I feel like today we blitzed when we needed to. Of course, this team is the clots, and man, they stink on ice. It was like a different team was snuck in during the halftime. They went from completely being a bumbling , can't do squat bunch of guys wandering around on the field.....to a real team that all of a sudden could play real football and dare the other team to keep up with them. Like a hollywood movie! Even Myers made pAT's......It was huge fun by all in the second half......A wave went around the stadium FOUR times! I think that's when clots ccry babies started leaving. :woot:

Can he redeem himself in your eyes if he wins out or wins 2 of the next 3?I think this is the better worded question. I think that if he can win one more game (a 6-10 season), then there is reason to be at least a little optimistic about the future with him. If we don't win another game (a distinct possibility) and finish 5-11... then for my money that's not good enough after three full years of rebuilding and I would put that on the coach, and maybe to a somewhat lesser degree, the GM. If however, the stars and planets align properly and the previously unthinkable were to occur and the Jags did better than 6-10... well, I'd have to give credit where credit is due and say Bradly has come a long way as a head coach and should get another year...just one more year mind you... just to make sure this record wasn't a by-product of a ridiculously easy schedule and sheer luck.
Redeem himself with whom?
the fans? hahaha, this week.... next loss, pitchforks are back, from here all the way to BCC... Downright giddy over there... like they slipped and fell into an ice cream party. Win close divisional matchup VS tinhorns. (for the division??) I mean.... I'm in the ol "i don't care" club myself now. Put myself there last week... staying there for the rest of the season.... but I expect an outcome similar to what I outline above. |
