Andre Johnson Swaps Jerseys With Hurns

#21

Quote:5th year option is for first rounders. UDFA's are on a 3 year deal usually I think. If he stays healthy he'll get paid. Let's hope he stays as productive after his first big payday. It's funny what money can do to a person's drive.

Jags need to lock him up ala MJD.  If I remember right, MJD was getting paid peanuts to what he was worth but still had like 2 years left on his contract.  Jags got him for below market value but MJD got a huge bump from his original contract instead of having to wait 2 years to go into free agency.  It's a winning proposition for the team and the player.  Hurns deserves to make some good money.  We need to lock him up this year.

Want to talk about drive with Hurns?  He looked like he died 2 weeks ago and only missed one game.  He is constantly playing with nagging injuries and not letting it affect his play.  That's heart right there.

One of these years.............

Im not trying to be impolite, but you come off as arrogant. You might want to work on that..

Everyone knows all players get banged up, but some have shorter careers than others due to their injuries. Others simply play less or don't have as much of an impact after their injury.

But to just say "all players get banged up" is not very informative.

Nice of a future HOFer to spend some time with A. Johnson.

Quote:If he stays healthy? Nonsense. Allen Hurns has been injured all season but only missed one game. He also got hurt last year and did not miss any games. It is all about production.

That is why I said "as soon as he is allowed to."
How about acknowledging the fact that you way missed with your whole point.

As soon as Dave feels the need to, he'll address Hurns' contract.

Probably next year.

And Arob the following season, to get the bigger payday.

I just can't stop smiling when I see him, hear him, watch him play...

Agreed, when he went on Jaguars.com Live after his concussion and was asked if he would still go hard across the middle, he said absolutely since he plays with no fear. The next game he goes out and grabs a pass between 2 defenders who were ready to knock him into tomorrow and takes it 80 yards to the house. You cannot teach that kind of heart, what a fearless beast.

Do they hang the jerseys on their wall or store them in the drawer without washing them.  Get stinky with b.o.

Based on the fact that Hurns is undrafted, and looking at how he has delivered for this team, it really wouldn't surprise me to see the front office make a move to re-write his contract and extend it this coming off season.  There's a ton of cap space to work with, and he has proven to be a key component of the core for this team moving forward.  He should be compensated on the same level as the drafted receivers.  He's earned it already.

Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Hurns signed a 3 year deal for about $1.5m.  At the end of the 3rd year (after next season), he will be a restricted free agent.  There is no need to rush signing him to an extension.

If he signs a deal he can't refuse with another team and we get compenstated with a 1st round pick. It's a good deal because AR15 gets most of the targets and we are loaded at wr with Lee, Greene, Walters, Sterling.  Julius will start to get more targets, and Bortles will get better making avg future acquired receivers look good.

This. Normally the NFL doesn't have room for "giving away money" which is kinda what would happen if Hurns is "resigned" for next year and beyond. However, Considering what hes done and what he has overcome, He deserves it as much as any other UDFA ever has. Caldwell could also be smart about it and extended him for just 2 years at a decent rate just in the small probability he becomes injury prone.

Can't wait to see whats next.

Lee and Greene have been injured and are tough to evaluate. Walters is a nice stopgap to have, but he's a stopgap all the same. Sterling has shown nothing to date. The only receiver on this roster as talented as Hurns, imo, is AR15. Unless something drastically changes and Lee or Greene explode next season with Hurns finding his way into the same mystery doghouse that's held McCray all season, the Jags can't afford to lose Hurns.
