Mario Williams

The dude hates playing in a 3-4 and seems to be really frustrated with the Bills. Some fans believe he won't be back next season and will be looking for another team that runs a 4-3. Should the Jags throw money at him or pass?

Typically, people will resist throwing money at anybody, but our pass rush situation is dire. Not sure if I would spend on him. Would rather get some o-linemen in FA.

1. our defense is similar to a 3-4.

2. He's getting older and hasn't been very effective.

3. He would likely cost too much money for what he will give us.

We are a young team trying to build the right way and I don't see any way he fits.

Mack, osemele, I'd also hope for a safety

Mario is entering the Peppers portion of his career.

Still valuable, worth having for any team if the money is right - but know you aren't getting the 20 year old version.

I'd get him on a decent deal, not anything close to what the Bills paid him.
IT WAS ALWAYS THE JAGS

I dunno. I think if Williams were to be here, and if the Staff would commit to it, he'd have himself a blast. If you told Mario that we're gonna sign you for a little less up front but! We're gonna put in some ridiculous Pass Rushing escalators and have you do nothing other than get after the QB, I think he'd tear it up.

I just have to think that he would instantly push the Clem / Branch duo off the roster and allow Fowler to really grow into the player we all want him to be. Plus, if you rotate Williams a little bit (maybe draft another pass rusher to spell him from time to time?) then you can put Williams against the Left Tackle Du Jour and isolate Fowler against Right Tackles.

Maybe it's a dream, but I'm all in for this one.

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

My preference would be for Muhammad Wilkerson first, then Mario Williams with a reasonable deal, no more than 3 years in length.

Mario Williams is big enough to play the run stuffing role on the left side, but athletic enough to approximate Michael Bennett.

Question is his motor.

Especially, because of the off the field issues with Sheldon Richardson,   I would be surprised if the Jets let Muhammad Wilkerson hit the open market as an UFA.   However,  if Wilkerson did hit the open market,  he would very likely get a contract that ranks in the top 5 for NFL Defensive Lineman.    The Jaguars certainly can afford him if that's the direction they want to go in.

Kind of how I see it but I don't think he has ever been as good as Peppers.  I'd pass old overpriced pass rushers remind me too much of Hugh Douglas

Go Jags!
*To stay up for atleast 2 years 3/6/17
2016 draft players I think will be good
  • On the Fournette train, will be best back of his class 3/6/17
  • Lattimore please,  Lockdowns on both sides would be nice
  • Engram at TE and the MJD clone Samaje Perine

When impact and longevity are factored in,   I believe Julius Peppers is making a strong case to be in the Pro Football HOF one day.   Other than possibly Clay Matthews,  Peppers is still the most impactful Packers Defensive player.
