Difficulty: going to Ft. Worth for Christmas so I'm seeing it there.

I'll be seeing it at the hood, Regency AMC, non imax, plain cloth maroon uncomfortable seats with cupholders arms that fold on each side, sitting next to stinking jax people.

Quote:I worry about this, too, given what he did to Star Trek and blaspheming one of my favorite films of all time (Wrath of Khan.)

I do have high hopes given the number of real sets he's using.  Makes them seem like real places again, which was what made the original (IV) such a huge hit.  Lucas was able to convincingly place you in worlds you've never been, but can believe are real.

My concerns still stand.

That being said, I enjoyed the he11 out of that movie!

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

Are ya'll talking about that new reality show on Discovery Channel?

I feel like I just spent 2.5 hours watching a movie I've already seen. I'm not disappointed in the film, just the story.

That is what I keep reading and it is making me want to wait to watch it. They say it is fun and there is a lot going on but its a rehash of older films and not much depth at all

You just better described Return of the Jedi, which is some fans' favorite.

Every sequel is an extension of a singular core story.

This was no retelling.  It was the emergence of the next generation of the same families.  They do tend to follow similar paths of the parents before them, particularly those who do not learn from the mistakes of history.

That much better describes your posts more than it does this film.  A rehash of older posts (the content of which belongs to others and is not genuine from personal experience) and not much depth at all.  None, actually.

How about you break it down for the poor old rehashed WorldsBestPoster? Please describe what you find to be so redeeming about this movie. Help me understand the characters and what gives them so much depth. Which of the 3 acts were your favorite and why? Would you please tell me who you thought had the best character arc and why they have so much depth? Was the climax of the film to your liking? What was the best line in your opinion and please dont be afraid to get into the subtext of what the character really meant...or is all you have to say is that "order has been restored to the Star Wars Universe?"

What are you a screen writer? Sounds like you don't want to enjoy the movie so you won't, congrats I guess?

For all you know I may be. He made a personal attack about the depth of my post not realizing the ineptitude of his own. So I asked him some questions about the depth the film since he claims it has so much.

And for the record I want to, and will see it. I am also sure I'll enjoy it. But what I read doesn't make me want to go opening weekend with a zillion other people because I lost some of the excitement. It isn't a attack on the movie or the fans, just a personal choice. You ever make those?

Which of the 3 acts were your favorite and why?

There are six previous films, but never let facts get in the way of your ineptitude and enthusiasm.  Empire (V, if you know what that means) is by far my favorite of the previous films.  I'm sure Kasdan's writing had a lot to do with this being a standout in the franchise.

Would you please tell me who you thought had the best character arc and why they have so much depth?

Probably Han Solo, since he's arguably the main character of this film (but you wouldn't know that.)  As described in the link above, you see more character exposure and development in him in this film than you did in all films prior combined.

Was the climax of the film to your liking?

Yes.  After a 2+ hour wild ride, you realize the larger story is just beginning, and the backstory behind it must be told as well.

What was the best line in your opinion and please dont be afraid to get into the subtext of what the character really meant...

On what to do with their prisoner: (may not be verbatim... wasn't recording the movie, just watching it)

Han.  "Is there a garbage chute... trash compactors?

Finn:  <grins with understanding glee>  "Yeah!....there is!"

See the movie, then you can intelligently talk about this and more.  You have no standing to comment on anything yet.  Until then, your commentary is useless, and baseless.

See the other thread if you truly care.  An intelligent debate isn't something you've proven you have the standing to participate in.

Fair play. I've seen the Finn/Rey vs Ren fight, Solos death, and the Luke reveal. But not seeing the movie it is hard to get a feeling of the overall picture.

But writing is writing. Doesn't matter if it is the wiggles or the art of war. I asked you very generic questions which you didn't answer, not even in the other thread. So I'll return to this thread down the road for that "intelligent debate" but somehow I see you as the non debating type

If you can't handle having lost this debate, just say so.  Your questions have been answered with more depth and understanding than your questions warranted, by far.

Hahaha no it didnt. But go ahead and pat yourself on the back you deserve it. I'm sure you spent a lot of time thinking of all those words to type

I'll use your point about Solo as the character having the best character arc. Why? Who was he when the film started, who was he when he fell off the bridge? I'd all you have to say is "he had the most exposure not that you would know derp"

Clearly the 3 act thing went over your head so you resulted in throwing out insults like the heavy breathing mongoloid you are.

And you literally broke nothing down about why you liked it or made you feel the way it did.

I'll be back though in a week or two when I see it. Maybe I can help you fill in the holes your comprehension has left empty
