I still think Marrone is a year away from being a serious head coaching candidate. After leaving Buffalo, he only received one interview and it sounded like he didn't come off too well in it. Our line play has definitely improved, but I think next year our offensive coaches will get more recognition for the jobs they've been doing and in turn get more opportunities for advancement. That's not to say he won't get any interviews, but I doubt he'll be the frontrunner yet. Granted there aren't many hot names this year, I think both Indy and Tennessee go after QB coaches like Jackson, Gase, and McDaniels over a line coach.

I hope so.

 

I think Marrone is an asset to this coaching staff, and if it comes time to replace Bradley in the future, I would want him to get strong consideration.  He would be the best mix between coaching ability and offensive continuity.

I don't see Shwartz or any other established defensive mind coming to work for Gus. Isn't Gus a lame duck next year anyway? I think they might be stuck with Babich, but Gus pretty much has to take things over on that side of the ball regardless if he wants to make it past the first 8 games in 2016 imo. That defense is plain bad, and I think scheme is a big part of it.

Its nothing wrong with the scheme, its the players, get a real LEO(Fowler or Bosa or a FA), and get Marks back, then you have Fowler to roam, and add another pass rushing DT. Then a play making S, the system would work.

 

When you get nothing out of your LEO and bad S play, it makes the scheme horrible

The thing I'd be more concerned about with Marrone is if a team wants to hire him as an OC/OL, but we can block those though I'm not sure that's necessarily the best way to go about things.

Here is my just as realistic plan to solve our defensive woes:


#1. Bring Reggie White back to life.  (In his prime)


#2. Give Lawrence Taylor access to the Fountain of Youth, and sign him


#3. Do the same for Ed Reed, Champ Bailey, and Deion Sanders.  

 

#4. While we're at it get Freddy T and Tony Boselli  that same youth potion, and throw in Jimmy Smith while we're at it.  I mean can you imagine Jimmy Smith/Fred Taylor/Julius Thomas/Allen Robinson/Allen Hurns/Tony Boselli/Blake Bortles on offense?!


#5. Draft whoever you want, cause we've got the fountain of youth!

The only thing even a little unreasonable in my list is signing Norman and convincing Schwartz to coach here. Everything else is very doable if not even likely.

I like Vino's scenario and most of it can certainly happen, other than Norman who won't leave Carolina.  My thoughts on some of the specific moves:

 

1. Mack would upgrade the line significantly and would be worth the money if he can stay healthy. No reason he can't have 3 more good years.

2. Vernon would be good rotation guy on d. line capable of getting close to double digit sacks.

3. If Gipson returns to the form he displayed prior to this year, he would stabilize the secondary.

4. Ramsay or Hargreaves should be there in round one allowing Colvin to return to nickel.

5. Spence would be a risky pick due to his personal issues, but would be worth it due to his undeniable talent. Fowler and Spence, along with healthy Marks would solve the

    pass rush problems.

6. Scooby Wright would be great addition to linebacking corps and worth moving up for.

 

Good job with this and I agree it would "fix" their problems.
