Some interesting names at LT from PFF top 10 UFA list...


 


2. Cordy Glenn, LT,  Bills (88.7)
Forever under the radar, the former second-round pick is destined to cash in with a big deal next year after a season that has only served to highlight how talented he is. Allowing just one sack and 16 quarterback disruptions, Glenn has never been the best of run blockers, but he’s what you’d love to have in a left tackle.


5. Kelvin Beachum, LT, Steelers (79.4)
The Steeler would be higher up on this list, but tearing your ACL in a contract year is never advantageous for the bank balance. It might make a short-term contract in his best interest, as he builds upon his excellent start to life in the NFL. The 26-year-old finished 2015 as a top five left tackle, and his career was only pointing one way before the injury.


6. Donald Penn, LT, Raiders (87.1)
Discarded by Tampa Bay, Penn has used the last two years to show the Buccaneers just how wrong they were, playing some of the best football of his career. Our seventh-ranked left tackle this season, Penn has allowed just 21 quarterback disruptions in 2015. He might not be the youngest guy on this list, but he’s a sure thing in the short term.

 

 

Glenn is the top free agent LT and could find himself franchise. If he is allowed to hit the market, it would be close to a miracle to see Caldwell actually land him. This might be asking too much, although he did get JT this past season. With Glenn in place, we might even let Luke compete with Parnell for the start at RT.


 

Beachum appears to be a young stud LT on the rise set-back with his ACL which might allow the Jaguars to get him at a reasonable deal. The Jaguars could still start Joeckel until they know Beachum is fully ready to go.


 

At 32, Penn would be more of a stop-gap until the Jaguars could develop someone through the draft or else land a top LT in free agency down the road. Knowing we'd still have Joeckel for depth in case the old guy gets injured makes for an intriguing situation.

He would be my first choice at LT, but I don't see him hitting the market.  I think Mario Williams gets cut, saving the Bills enough cap space to keep Glenn.

Caldwell isn't going to replace Joeckel. He hasn't lived up to his draft position, but he's a solid starting LT.

Aside from the fact that Okung is an even trade for Joeckel at best, this seems like a great idea.
