'Stoner Sloth' Campaign Is Peak Anti-Marijuana Absurdity

#21

Personality and circumstance certainly make a difference. In my case, drug use started at a particularly vulnerable and formative time. Your results may vary. Under no circumstance can my current situation in life be considered a failure. I guess it could be more accurately described as taking a different arc than I had envisioned. My children have no inkling that I ever used. Quite the contrary, they see me as an ardent anti. I take that stance not only based on my experience, but I've yet to hear someone bemoan the fact that they could have been more successful had they smoked pot in high school.

The one caveat to that is pot induced creativity sure produced some fine music.

a. I happen to perform at a very high level at my job even though I'm a smoker. I just don't smoke at work. I enjoy it like I enjoy alcohol which is on the weekends or in the evenings.

b. It is not any more expensive than someone who drinks and smokes cigs on a regular basis.

c. Vape. Not only is it healthier than smoking, it cuts the cost in half. <---this and it's really smooth. To add to it, I partake and cardio related activities frequently and it doesn't affect me.

I didn't partake much in high school until my senior year.  Interestingly, my senior year was by far by most successful academically although I suspect the most important factor was the discovery that you actually had to study to make good grades (a fact that had eluded me during the previous 3 years).  Later when I got to college and dropped back to "casual use" it likewise didn't have an obvious impact on my academic performance (summa [BAD WORD REMOVED] laude) but I don't know how I would have done if I hadn't partaken at all.  I can say I was always straight for lectures, tests, etc.  Clearly it impacts different people in different ways.

I'm condescending. That means I talk down to you.

Same here.   I wish to God I could have that time back in my life and not smoke that stuff.   What a waste.

Quote:There is not one single doubt in my mind that my station in life would be better had I never smoked it. It robs motivation and stunts social, intellectual, and emotional growth in young forming brains. Like you, I had lots of problems to deal with in those years. At the time I thought of it as an escape. I realized later that it was the thing which impeded me.

Man, you are right on the money with that one.   Same here!

It's amazing how much easier life became when I finally quit.   I think I've achieved a  lot in life, but still I look back and see my life as so much wasted potential.

I get what you and HB are saying, but in my case I can guaran-damn-tee you had pot not been available during my feral teens, I'd be dead or incarcerated due to alcohol and/or narcotic abuse.
