Marrone interview tour MERGED

#21

Quote:He certainly did wonders with the left side of the Jags oline. Not that anyone could coach those guys up, but I don't get the Marrone hype.

The hype is about him being a head coach. His record as a head coach is solid. His record as an OL coach is not so solid, at least with the Jags, but it's not pertinent to the discussion.

Jimmy Haslam says #Browns will hire head coach, then search for GM who will work under Sashi Brown and focus on "talent acquisition."

Talk about a dumpster fire of an organization.

Haha wow. Marrone would walk into that type of situation? We complain about Khan, but atleast he has a historically-proven, successful structure.

The new GM will work under the microscope of some [BLEEP] lawyer who knows jack [BLEEP] about football. Lovely.

Wow, I wonder if he could just hire Gus Bradley and make us all very happy around here.

I survived the Gus Bradley Error.

Exactly, anyone here with that language in a contract they signed to leave and still get paid would be an idiot not to do so. I blame the Bills for being so completely [BLEEP] with the language of the contract of their head coach. Who wouldn't take a year of guaranteed money, then go double dip somewhere and rack up even more dough? Smart man, and I bet the next HC stop he makes he will likely post more than 12 wins in 3 seasons.

Surely the Browns aren't dumb enough to hire a head coach before a GM for the second time in three years?

Despite everyone having a anti-Bradley meltdown about Khan recently he's one of the best owners in the NFL. He doesn't meddle in the football, he talks to the fans, he's good for the city and he's got a long-term plan with the guys at the top.

At least the Browns are doing something. I'd rather they try then settle for this garbage.

I'd rather not use the Browns as an example of how one "tries" in the NFL.

Really? The Browns just fire a guy every year or two, hire another guy and repeat. They draft like clowns - Weeden, lol, Manziel, lol, Richardson, lol etc.

The Jags are in a far stronger position as a team than the Browns. We have a QB and 2 of the best young WR's in the league in place. The Browns haven't had a QB as good as Bortles since they came back and they've been through a lot of quarterbacks in that time.

Honestly, you're frustrated yada yada yada but let's be honest, would you really rather follow the Browns example? Seriously? The HC doesn't report to the GM, he reports to the owner. The GM reports to someone else completely and doesn't talk to the HC. It's madness.

Again when all their attempts finally work and you can't use the Browns anymore to act like their organization is worse than ours then you'll have nothing left to look down on b/c we will be bottom. Keep it up though!

I personally think marrone is a very good coach. The giants would make sense for the team fit and familiarity with a personality like Coughlin. And would return marrone to NY

I wouldn't be surprised or mad at him.

Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

He gone, it's just a matter of where at this point.
