When is Caldwell's press conference?

Quote:Tweet from Tim Bee (@TimBeeSports) - Caldwell not opposed from redrafting at positions he has already drafted if he thinks it's better for the team #Jaguars

Joeckel and Cyprien were put on notice with this one.

Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Quote:Has it been mentioned that Dave hinted at staff changes on the Defense?
It has, but people around here will ignore it because he deferred to Gus on those decisions.  I would imagine we'll be hearing about staff changes in the next few days.

Quote:How can people hold Gus responsible, no coach would have done anything with the team his first 2 years, this is what people need to understand

So who do you hold responsible?  Dave?

He admittedly should have spent more money the first couple years and took the blame quite a bit throughout the press conference.

I'm not a huge fan of Hacker, but those two are getting a free pass those first two years and I paid the same price for season tickets for absolute garbage football.  The defense has actually taken steps back from the first two years.  That is what I find unacceptable.

Dave essentially said "I wouldn't renew if I were you this year. Wait until next year" in code.

The only reason the "defense took a step back" from a statistical standpoint is the Jaguars finally have a competent offense, which has forced opposing offenses to stay aggressive for 4 quarters. Teams were literally sitting on the ball in the second half of games in 2013-14.

So what you are saying is the defense has been bad the whole time but is just now getting exposed?

What are you talking about?  Our offense at times was absolutely stagnant in the first half while the other team racked up points until halftime.  Our defense may never have been absolute world beaters, but they were historically bad this year.

As I listened I got more and more mad about spending my money.  It appeared Dave and company likes to listen to the media and what they have to say, but maybe they should start visiting the message board here to see what we have to say as well.  We're the ones who actually pay them.

come on, fellas. Three drafts in and that many needs. We could draft any position with the 5th pick and it's be perfect. Why are you giving this guy excuses?

I don't think you watch that much football. This same list can be used for a lot of the teams that made the playoffs this year. We had a up and down season, but I'm proud of what my team did, and even more excited for next season. We are a young 5-11 team that could have easily been 11-5 if we only played with a little more consistency, and I do believe we will get there. This team is on the serious rise, so just be a little more patient and everything you've ever wanted them to potentially be is right around the corner.

Yep. Like we discussed in the other thread, super simple to get good cheap tickets to games you want to go to. Ends up being less than season tickets and usually better seats.

Another tidbit about the cap.  The salary cap this past year was $143.3m.  At the last owner's meeting, the teams were informed that the cap this next year will rise to between $150m and $153.4m.  However, the final cap has not yet been calculated or finalized.  Caldwell, at best, could have only given an approximate cap availability figure.

I think Cyprien is the most disappointing player we have drafted. That guy had a ton of expectations and he simply is not living up to anything.

The day the GM of an NFL franchise listens to what you dozen or so mooks on here have to say is the day he is unemployed and on here ranting back and forth with yall

Only times offense was stagnant was when the offensive line was at their worst. See the Texans game. Blake was either on his butt, or running for his life. Sure, he made some bad throws and sometimes bad reads, but when your constantly under pressure, eventually, bad things happen.

Quote:Interesting about Mingo. Wonder if he kicks the tires again with new people coming into Cleveland. Watch Dave sign Mack and Gipson and trade for Mingo lol.

Mingo was only speculation. It wouldn't surprise me if it was Irvin, who was also on the rumor block.

Good coaches do the most with the least. Gus had a chance to show everyone he's a good coach by winning an extremely weak a division in a down year. He managed 5 wins.....

Once Gus has a lot more talent and wins, that won't make him a good coach.

I think the first two years were clearly on Dave, and as a fan, is the biggest "offense" IMO. I get what they are trying to do. But to, put it bluntly, admit last off-season and this off-season than 4 wins the first year and 3(?) last was overachieving? That he knew full well what they were getting into but chose to go that route anyway?

IMO, that's a big slap in the face for season ticket holders.

This year is shared by both. Gus made mistakes early on, but thought improved in game management later in the year. Dave, admittedly, had he known they'd be in contention, probably would have done more to replace Fowler.
