He caught on in the last part of the season. Also pleased to see Lee stay healthy.

He did come into camp in shape. He lost it when he got injured. Not a legitimate excuse, but it is what happened.

Jaguars QB Blake Bortles suffered a non-displaced fracture of his left thumb in the last game of the season.

(sigh, shouldve had Chad Henne especially after the 1st Qtr when the realized the Oline couldnt block).

Bortles set single-season franchise records in attempts (605), yards (4,428) and touchdown passes (35).  - Source: ESPN

Quote:I know this will work on his mechanics and what not but how does he get better at pre-snap and in-play reading of defenses?  That's what killed him this year with all the bad INTs.

Not a troll post but really asking?  Does that come from him working with his QB coach?  OC?  Does Tom House help at all in that realm?  Just more experience?

Quote:Exactly, Jeremy!

Bortles' issues are mental. Physically, he has it all, but if you cant go to a line, identify the defense and it's weaknesses, and make adjustments as warranted, well, that's just a head issue.

It's like any other complex skill that you want to learn; you break it down into steps, you work on the individual steps one at a time, then you start to piece them together. It's how John Wooden used to coach up his basketball teams.

Because you want the act of delivering the football to border on being instinctual. You need to be careful with the exertion, but you want to whittle down the time between when the player sees the opportunity to when he releases the ball. Passing coaches will put a player in all kinds of situations where he learns how to deliver the ball quickly and in correct form. Then, the player takes that back to his coaching staff and they work on where to deliver the ball.

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!

Last year was about fundamentals and mechanics. This year it's about mastering all aspects of the offence. He needs to be able to analyze the defence at the LOS and make the right calls.
