New executive action regarding gun control

(This post was last modified: 01-07-2016, 02:04 PM by unf_nashvillian.)

There will never be a confiscation in this country.  Never.  After a few days of trying and cops getting shot trying to take Jim Bob's guns, they will rethink the whole confiscation thing.  As for me, I used to have a lot of guns, but lost them all in a tragic boating accident a few years ago.

We learned in the Sunday School who made the sun shine through.  I know who made the moonshine too, back where I come from.

Hyperbole much?

Who is suffering? Who is taking away guns? How is the 2nd Amendment being destroyed? What planet are you on?

You are helpless since you apparently have reading comprehension issues. Re-read the thread if you are still asking those questions.

I must have missed the part where your argument was anything more than unfounded opinion. Show me where the suffering is? Who is losing their guns? Where is the 2nd Amendment being destroyed anywhere except your imagination?

Quote:You do realize that when they eventually come to confiscate everyone's guns they will be doing the exact same thing on a national scale, right?

Nobody is coming for your guns. It's a scare tactic used on dumb people to drive up gun sales. Check the profits since the NRA started perpetuating that myth and tell me I'm wrong. While you're at it, show me where people are having their guns taken away.

Gun confiscation is not a myth and has happened in other countries.  Hence... why the 2nd amendment exists to begin with.

You also have many liberal politicians on record talking about their views of gun control.  Many liberals believe in full gun confiscation.  It's not made up.  They really want guns gone.  Thankfully there are enough people right now unwilling to bend over, unlike you.

TBQH I'm strongly considering buying myself a handgun and a shotgun for home defense now, before King Barack finds a way to strip that right away without Congressional involvement.

So.. nobody in the U.S. is having their guns taken away, and a few far left people have implied gun confiscation should be allowed, but have done nothing to propose any such legislation on that.

So far, all I have heard is running background checks to own a gun. Terrifying. Tyrannical. Dictator!

You're either stupid or just a willing participant if you don't see how these laws are just a slow process leading to eventual confiscation.

The way that Hillary and others try to sell this is to make it sound reasonable.  In theory, alot of it is.  However, in practice its going to result in government overstepping their boundaries. SHOCKER, I know.

"We just want to keep people on the 'no-fly list' from buying a gun."  Ok, what gets you on a no-fly list?  Nobody really knows.

"We want to keep mentally ill people from buying guns." Ok, what's mentally ill? The federal government is now giving itself the power to determine if you're mentally ill or not.

So.. helmet laws are a way for the government to take away motorcycles and seat belt laws are a plot to take away cars too?

For starters.. Jared Loughner and the Aurora shooter. Adam Lanza with severe Aspergers. The PTSD guy who killed American Sniper.

We have a mental health epidemic in this country which is largely ignored.

That's great, until the list of illnesses expands.  what gets you on a no-fly list is ambiguous as will be a mentally ill list.

Stupid analogy.

Seat belt and helmet laws are simply a means of generating revenue because now it can be ticketed.

Florida doesn't have a helmet law, but I wouldn't recommend going without wearing one, similarly I wouldn't recommend you live in a house that isn't protected by a gun.

Could have sworn they were implemented for safety.

I won't recite statistics that say you are more likely to be a victim of gun violence if you live in a house with a gun. Because you don't care.

That's what they always say when they want your money or your freedoms.

It's about safety huh? Oh ok, I suppose the invasion of Iraq is also about freedom, right?

Everybody has statistics that back up their assertion.  Australia has gun restrictions. After they were passed, gun crime increased and armed robbery increased.

Your statistic will not help anybody when somebody attempts to break into your house.  Only an idiot would prefer to not have a gun in that situation.

Yup. Buckling up is for sissies who are afraid to fight for their freedoms. That it might save your life in an accident is a propagandist lie.

The lie is not that it's safe to wear a seat belt. One with a functional brain should be able to understand that.  The lie is that the law is in place just because they want you to be safe.

In the gun control case, it's both a lie that it makes you safer and that it's about our safety.
