Marrone interview tour MERGED

Quote:One thing I learned early on when job searching, right after college, is that unless you've already accepted a job, you never say no to an interview. Even if you have zero interest in actually taking the job if offered, you have nothing to lose by sitting down in front of someone who could encounter later on in your career, or someone who might not have a need for you right now but knows someone else that might. Parole boards work much the same way. Or so I've heard. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:This is interesting. </blockquote> I wonder how many of those same Browns players concerned about Doug Marrone becoming the team's HC contributed greatly to the team finishing 3-13, not to mention 0-5 down the stretch in the 2014 season. Even with all of the issues in the Browns organization, it's fair to say that at least some of the players didn't come close to playing to their football potential because of themselves.
Who cares if we lose Marrone? None of you are happy with Joekel. The center situation is tenuous at best. None of you like the coaching - guess what - he's the assistant head coach.
What's the big deal? Honestly! There's no logical reason to be upset about Doug friggin Marrone interviewing for jobs. Good for him! Heck, he might even get one! Who cares! What has he done this quitting in Buffalo to get y'all so fired up? Oh, right, nothing. Quote:Who cares if we lose Marrone? None of you are happy with Joekel. The center situation is tenuous at best. There aren't even that many posters who seem worried about him leaving. He's still a better head coach than what we have but I hope he gets another HC job somewhere. This really isn't a surprise. I don't know why Marrone is suddenly a hot commodity to the Jaguars fans simply because they no longer want Gus. Go back and read the stuff coming out of Buffalo before his 2nd season even began. Go and read the stuff out of NY when he was rumored to be a candidate for the Jets after he left Buffalo. All the stuff the Browns players are supposedly concerned about Marrone are, IMO likely based out of those previous reports Quote:This really isn't a surprise. Go and read the stuff out of NY when he was rumored to be a candidate for the Jets after he left Buffalo. Though I recall those reports from last year, what stands out, at least on this end, is the Bills were one game worse w/o Doug Marrone and the Browns had another very difficult season. Regarding the Bills, the drop off in play by Mario Williams stood out. It's one thing for players to complain about coaching. It's another for them not to respond favorably under other coaches. At some point, the players that are dissatisfied with coaching or concerned about a coach being hired have to take responsibility for their own play. Also how many of those same players voicing their frustration about Marrone are going to call out Alex Mack when he decides to opt out of his contract and go elsewhere? Because it's practically the exact same thing. Apparently Marrone tomorrow will have interview with the Giants as well and next week should have interview with the Dolphins too. According to Michael Di Rocco's tweet.
titans requested permission to interview marrone per schefter
Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

This is brought up also in the culture thread.................coaches are starting to lose control of their locker rooms by the actions of a few players. I hate to use my Pats as an example, but screw up with Coach B and you are toast, he has no second thoughts when it comes to cutting the cancer out. This doesn't work everywhere any more and I am beginning to think the days of the old school disciplinarian type coach are fading away. Outspoken players are getting their 15 minutes more and more!

According to Di Rocco yesterday Marrone is interviewing with the Giants and the Dolphins as well these days.
I don't understand why this guy is getting so many interviews. I guess teams are just being overly thorough.
