Defensive coordinator candidates

Rob Ryan just got hired as assistant head coach in buffalo so he Is definitely off the list.

Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

I wouldn't touch him if he was the last option on earth. We'd be better off picking some random fan in the stands to call a defensive play than we would be hiring that buffoon.

Rob Ryan is one of the only people in the NFL with a worse resume than Gus Bradley.

I'm not upset in the least but figured since this is a football forum and this thread is about defensive coordinator candidates, it might be pertinent to let people know that a bigger name guy is off the market, whether you like him or not.

from now on I'll ask everyone how much they like aomeone before I post any news.

These listen in black are candidates I would not mind seeing here.  I would also add Steve Spagnuolo.

No one is making a lateral move to a lame duck coach on the last year of his contract.

Likely, it won't be a big name for this very reason.  Only way would be is if they think they can leverage the opportunity to take over if Gus is fired next year.

Has there been anymore news on our coaching search? It's been quiet lately

A lot of guys are gonna wait until the HC jobs are filled and see if they can get the DC job there, that will buy them at least 3 years, where as here it may only be 1 year. Once those are filled then those guys wouldnt care if its for a coach that could be fired. They A. At that point just want the best job out there and B. Could take over for that HC if he is fired during the year and show what they got.

As for Wade Phillips I wish we could get him, never seen him not improve a defense once he took over

I'm speculating but they could be waiting to speak with someone who's currently on a playoff staff. That or waiting for the senior bowl which is basically a NFL job fair.

Yeah, I wouldn't expect anything until after the Senior Bowl. It's just too good of an opportunity to hold impromptu interviews with lots of candidates.

I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!
