This is the key to understanding the problem the conflict and its an idrological place those on the left refuse to go to.

Quote:The problem is Sharia Law is in conflict with American law, and yet attempts to somehow make Sharia Law ok to practice keep happening. What we need is a bill that makes it clear without any doubts that the practice of Sharia Law is strictly banned on American soil.

If Sharia Law is in conflict with American law, then why the need to pass another law to outlaw it?

In my opinion, Sharia Law, as you guys understand it, is clearly unconstitutional.   So there is no need to pass yet another law to deal with something that is clearly unconstitutional in the first place.

By the way, who is attempting to make Sharia Law ok to practice?   I haven't heard of that happening in the United States.   So I really think you guys are making a mountain out of a molehill.

There are places, especially in Michigan, where they're trying to straight out ignore American law and look to be getting away with it. It needs to be clear that American law is supreme.

So you want to pass a law that makes it illegal to break the law?

Strictly banned? No. That violates freedom of religion.

That said, if there are elements of Shariah Law that conflict with American laws, the practice of those elements should be banned (or at least subjugated to American laws), and those who practice them anyway should face the same fines, criminal records, jail time, whatever that anyone else committing those crimes would.

That doesn't require passing a law. That is already the law.

Then why is this even a conversation?

Oh, right, some people need a boogeyman spoon-fed to them instead of looking at what's really going on and seeing the one holding the spoon.

Meanwhile on this very board we discussed the implementation of laws to promote shariah loans.

Regarding the upcoming debate,  Rand Paul and Carly Fiorina were dumped from the prime time debate stage.   The debate will feature 7 candidates:

So basically, it has three: Trump, Cruz and Rubio. Everyone else on that list is either dead as a doornail or on life support.

Well that sucks but figures both of them are barely registering in any polls.

Hard to believe Kasich got in over Rand Paul. The guy is a complete tool.

If Donald Trump fades from the picture,   I wouldn't be surprised if Rand Paul makes another Presidential Run in 2020.  More than any other candidate,  I believe Rand Paul was hurt by Trump being in the 2016 race.

I'm certainly no fan of John Kasich.   I wouldn't be surprise if the RNC is trying to keep his candidacy alive long enough to enhance his value as a VP option.

He's polling higher than Rand, who is (unfortunately) all but done for officially. Kasich is actually my second-favorite candidate in the entire race.

I don't think Trump held him back. I think it's that the establishment has been only too happy over the last 15 years to play the boogeyman card with national security, and Rand's platform is based around national security being secondary to Constitutional rights. Sadly, there's a huge chunk of the population that would sooner give up essential liberty for a little temporary security than vote for someone who believes that our rights and dignity should not be subjugated to the government-created boogeyman.

Here's a question that comes to mind.   Do you believe that Ron Paul would be doing well in the polls  ( considering the 2016 dynamics ) if he was running for President in 2016 instead of his son Rand and was several years younger?

For whatever reasons,  Rand's campaign hasn't come close to having the support that his father had in the last two election cycles.

I don't think Ron would be doing any better. His platform is even more extreme than Rand's, and I think the underlying issue with Rand is that the only thing keeping him from being just the typical Republican candidate for this cycle is his disdain for government infringement into civil liberties. The central element of his platform isn't resonating with the farther and farther right base that wants Uncle Sam watching over your shoulder on a daily basis, a multi-billion dollar doomed-to-fail wall between us and Mexico and to bomb the crap out of Iran because everyone living there is a terrorist in training or something.
