Gene's Biggest Bust?

Gabbert is probably the correct answer here, but consider this:
I've seen Gabbert make NFL throws I've seen Alualu make NFL plays. What has Branch done that even remotely resembles an NFL caliber play. ...dude is horrible We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

Quote:After Blaine gets cut by the Jags in the off season, are you going to be a fan of whichever CFL team picks him up? We'll still be the same if Gabbert gets released. I'll still be a true Jaguars fan, you'll still be a message board troll. Quote:I was. In fact i was suprised he was even being considered a first round pick after lackluster production in an offense the previous QB ( smaller and weaker armed BTW) owned and going 0-2 in bowl games being the center reason for the second loss with a Pic-6 while he team was up with 4 mins left.EXACTLY! I said the same exact thing and have been saying the same exact thing. If you saw Gabbert play in college there was NOTHING that stood out that he would be a big time NFL quarterback. I remember looking up Mizzou games during draft time and watching in confusion as to why he was considered the "best qb" in the draft We show less advertisements to registered users. Gabbert is easily #1. Missing that badly on a franchise QB can often cost a front office their jobs. Gabbert is never going to develop into a good QB. And everyone except the Jaguars could see that right from the start of his pro career.
Secondly, I think Blackmon could still develop into a good WR. I disagree with those who call this pick a bust. Plus how can you even evaluate until you get steady QB play?
Quote:There is no correct answer, only opinions. Suck or suck not, we still have picks made by Gene Smith. Quote:We'll still be the same if Gabbert gets released. People want to say gabbert is the pick and I for one is going to give him a pass base on the fact his situation here made it hard for him to succeed. Owner selling the team which made del rio to hire and retain unqualified coaches, del rio threw him into the fire knowing that he wasn't ready but wanted to save his own butt. Coordinators who never ran an offense for what he do best like other qb prospects in his peers and having historical bad offensive lines throughout his career as a starter. Gabbert to me will always be a what if as in what if he would've got drafted by the bengals instead of this team and ownership. Personally, my biggest bust of the gene smith era is going to be bryan anger when he could've had Russell Wilson.

Man this is too much! His biggest bust? How about any players that weren't a bust: Knighton, Cox, Shorts, Anger, Blackmon, Monroe. And I don't even think Blackmon was a Gene pick. Everything else, well have at it. Thats 6 players from about 24 picks. Pretty bad. Alualu and Gabbert have to be at the top with the 1st round pick they were. Gabbert has to be overall cause of how much we gave up for him.
Yes, it's improvement, but it's Blaine Gabbert 2012 level improvement. - Pirkster The Home Hypnotist! Media on the Brain Link! Quote:Peyton must store oxygen in that forehead of his. No way I'd still be alive after all that choking.

Biggest bust? Flip a coin - heads Gabbert or Tails - Tyson
Biggest miss? Taking Anger instead of Russell Wilson I'd just like to forget the whole "In Gene We Trust" era. ![]()
Because Jaguars is our mantra
![]() Quote:Yep, when you add to that the fact that Ryan Kerrigan (the guy who the Skins took with our pick and who many thought we were targeting) is pretty dang good and would have given us an NFL caliber defensive end then you really learn just how bad the Gabbert pick was. I have bad news, I think it was J.J. Watt we passed on.
Gabbert, simply

Disagree when Blaine had Kemp think his name was. He was a blast to watch.

Gene's
Worst Picks - All the picks/Free Agency except Cecil Shorts, Blackmon (Maybe if he develops) Non Worst/Not the Best - Monroe, Knighton, Cox Best Move - Trading MT80 for a pick.
Gene's biggest draft bust has to be Tyson Alualu as a DT, maybe he can prove himself this year as a good DE (but he was meant to have an immediate impact at the start of the season at DT). The hype was so high after everyone said he reached, because he in fact did. Alualu as a 3rd round pick wouldve been smart, but not a high 1st rounder..
